Job Title: Data Engineer (Databricks / ADVANA) Clearance Required: Secret or higher
Location: Remote
Schedule: Monday to Friday

About the Role:
BizFirst is supporting a Department of Defense (DoD) customer in identifying a Senior Data Engineer to support the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) and its enterprise data platform, ADVANA. This role is critical to the continued development, optimization, and sustainment of the ADVANA platform— leveraging Databricks and other modern cloud-based data engineering tools to power mission- critical insights and operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide data engineering support for the ADVANA platform, including development and optimization of Databricks-based workflows

  • Build and maintain scalable data pipelines and workflows that integrate with existing ADVANA systems

  • Collaborate with government stakeholders, data scientists, and platform engineers to design and implement data solutions that meet mission needs

  • Enhance system performance, scalability, and reliability of ADVANA’s Databricks environment

  • Provide expert guidance on best practices in cloud data engineering, with a focus on DoD-compliant architectures

  • Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term fixes

  • Contribute to documentation and knowledge transfer efforts across teams Requirements:


Required Qualifications:


  • Prior hands-on experience with Databricks, including cluster management, Delta Lake, and distributed data processing

  • Experience working on or supporting ADVANA or similar large-scale DoD data platforms

  • Strong understanding of data engineering principles, including ETL/ELT, data modeling, and version control

  • Demonstrated ability to work on and improve existing data systems within a DoD environment

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Databricks certifications (e.g., Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate/Professional) are strongly preferred

  • Experience with cloud services such as AWS GovCloud or Azure Government is a plus

  • Prior experience supporting the Department of Defense or Federal clients is preferred
