JOB DESCRIPTION
The Data and AI Solutions Group Lead is responsible for leading and developing one or more globally distributed teams of Data and AI professionals focused on delivering innovative solutions that create business value across UL Solutions.
This is a remote leadership opportunity that can be based in Brazil or Mexico. The role oversees team members across multiple geographic regions and time zones, including the Americas and Europe.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a diverse team of AI specialists, data professionals, engineers, and scientists.
- Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-trust culture focused on engagement, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Support team members through ongoing coaching, performance management, career development planning, and regular feedback.
- Create an environment where teams are empowered to make decisions, solve problems independently, and deliver results with minimal day-to-day intervention.
- Identify succession planning and growth opportunities for team members while building long-term organizational capability.
- Recruit, onboard, and develop talent aligned with both immediate business needs and long-term strategic objectives.
Delivery & Operational Excellence
- Partner with Product and Engineering leaders to establish priorities, roadmaps, delivery objectives, and success metrics.
- Drive predictable and sustainable delivery through effective planning, prioritization, risk management, and execution practices.
- Maintain clear management systems, delivery processes, and reporting mechanisms to provide transparency and support decision-making.
- Monitor and improve team performance through delivery metrics, operational insights, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Remove organizational impediments and proactively address risks that may impact execution or team effectiveness.
Stakeholder & Organizational Leadership
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align priorities, dependencies, and strategic initiatives.
- Translate business strategy into actionable short- and medium-term plans that balance people, product, and delivery considerations.
- Facilitate effective communication across geographically distributed teams and leadership groups.
- Support organizational change initiatives and help scale operational best practices across the Data and AI organization.
- Contribute to leadership discussions regarding team structure, talent planning, organizational maturity, and department-wide initiatives.
AI, Data & Technology Leadership
- Provide leadership guidance for the development and delivery of Data and AI solutions in production environments.
- Ensure teams follow responsible AI practices, data governance standards, and quality assurance processes.
- Promote modern engineering practices, scalable architecture principles, and continuous improvement in technical delivery.
- Guide teams working on AI-enabled solutions including machine learning, document intelligence, agentic workflows, data platforms, and automation technologies.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Proven experience leading and developing technical teams within Data, AI, Machine Learning, Analytics, or Software Engineering environments.
- Demonstrated success managing people, coaching team members, and building high-performing teams.
- Experience leading teams operating in Agile, Lean, or comparable delivery frameworks.
- Experience delivering Data and AI solutions in production environments.
- Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to lead geographically distributed teams across multiple regions and time zones.
- Experience establishing delivery processes, tracking performance metrics, and driving operational improvements.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to balance technical, business, and people considerations.
- Experience working with data platforms, machine learning workflows, and modern software development practices.
- Experience with Document Intelligence, AI-powered automation, Agentic AI solutions, DevOps, MLOps, and Responsible AI practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience leading managers, team leads, or highly autonomous technical teams.
- Experience scaling organizations through periods of growth and organizational transformation.
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience working within globally distributed organizations and collaborating with international stakeholders.
