Engineering Document Control Specialist
The Elevator Pitch
Are you an expert in engineering change control processes? Does designing and implementing a RoHS compliance program excite you?
In this role, the Engineering Control Doc will support the production release of hardware and software to manufacturing. You will design and implement a RoHS compliance program for our Express 2.0 product, done internally and tracked with Arena PLM. Not only will you be using Arena PLM for the change control process, but you will help to identify and get RoHS compliance in good order for the Express 2.0 product.
Success in the Role: What are performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?
In the first 30 days, you will:
- Begin to run the weekly change control board meeting
- Become familiar with the Express 1.0 product structure and our contract manufacturer’s change processes
Within 3 months, you will:
- Get experience and become knowledgeable with engineering change control using Arena PLM or equivalent
- Practice implementing a RoHS compliance program and the documentation needed to support an audit
By the end of the first year, you will:
- Assist and aid with the creation of a smooth transition of the Express 2.0 from engineering development into full scale manufacturing at our contract manufacturer
- Ensure all items on the Express 2.0 BOM are RoHS compliant and documented in Arena PLM
The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
- Chair the weekly engineering change control board meeting
- Document system software releases using Arena PLM and support manufacturing implementation at our contract manufacturer
- Process ECO's supporting mechanical, electrical, and software changes
- Audit parts, documents, and drawings for naming conventions, numbering, and revisioning according to established practices.
- Help implement RoHS compliance program for the Express 2.0
- Transition into this role with help from current team members over the next 60 days and become familiar with the current change control processes
- Capture all the documents provided by engineering into Arena and Amazon S3 servers at the next quarterly software release and make sure our contract manufacturer has the information needed to implement product changes in manufacturing
- Review incoming engineering change requests (ECR's) and work with the engineering and manufacturing teams to understand the scope and effectivity
What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team?
- The Engineering Document Control/ ECO will report to the Senior Director of Mechanical Engineering.
- You will be joining the R&D Team. The 7+ person team is comprised of 4 Mechanical Engineers, 1 mechanical technician, and 1 Mechanical Designer.

- The location of this role is based out of our HQ in Waltham, MA with some flexibility in working remotely.
