Job Summary
Schedule: 36hpw, Days, Evenings, or Nights, 3-12 hour shifts.An exciting opportunity at Brigham and Women’s Hospital is available for a passionate, patient focused, and professional CT Technologists. We are a world class academic medical center and teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. We have a legacy of clinical excellence that continues to grow year after year. The Brigham and Women’s CT department is committed to offering the most advanced imaging technology. Qualified technologists will be using the most advanced dual energy scanners for a full range of CT exams while working with a two-tech model. CT technologists are active team members that collaboratively work with Radiologists, Cardiologists, Interventionalists, and Physicists to improve image quality and decrease dose efficiently and effectively. An international leader in virtually every area of medicine, these highly specialized experts are working together to make the patient experience and care the best in the world. We have a variety of shifts available including full and part-time opportunities. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: - Operates CT equipment to obtain diagnostic images and information according to departmental protocol. In doing so, ensures the patient is properly prepared, positioned, immobilized and uses protective shield on the patient as needed. Selects proper imaging factors, and images the designated portion(s) of the body. - Explains exam to patient taking into consideration physical and emotional needs; maintains ethical standards (patient confidentiality, professional conduct, etc.). Delivers patient care under scope of license / training. - To maintain effective working relations and communication with departmental and other hospital personnel, i.e. professional, nursing, etc. - Calibrate and verify the operation of all equipment to be used during the work day. To notify appropriate personnel of equipment malfunctions and repairs needed. - Execute paperwork and Radiology Information System functions as necessary for each patient exam (e.g. schedule exam, complete exam, transfer images to PACS, etc.). - Performs venipuncture for purposes of contrast administration under the direction of a radiologist. Follow all hospital and departmental contrast administration policies and procedures. - Attend staff meetings, in-services, and maintains appropriate CEU’s in accordance with Massachusetts State Licensure and A.R.R.T. (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) requirements. - May oversee and instruct various personnel and technology students (medical radiography, CT, nuclear medicine) within the department. - Prepare the equipment room and supplies necessary for each patient and regular daily use. Stock and supply room as needed. - To acknowledge and participate in research programs, quality assurance and quality improvement projects carried on in the department (i.e. cost containment). - To assume responsibilities for on-call coverage and to remain flexible in all shift coverage and overtime situations as necessary. - Rotates within department, divisions and all off-site clinics, by shifts as required and needed; cooperates with all personnel, promoting harmony within department - Transport and transfer patients using established procedures according to departmental guidelines. - Uses independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative under pressure in a variety of situations when performing patient exams. - Performs point-of-care (POC) creatinine testing at applicable sites and upon completion of training. - Performs all other duties as directed.
