The Crop Division of Great American has been helping generations of farmers take control of their risks since 1915. The D​ivision is also one of a select few private companies authorized by the United States Department of Agriculture Risk Management Agency (USDA RMA) to write MPCI policies. With six regional offices throughout the U.S., the teams provide tremendous expertise in the specific needs of farmers and crops.

Great American is currently seeking an Underwriting Product Manager to join our Crop division. This position will either be based in our Cincinnati, OH headquarters, which offers a hybrid work environment, or completely remote depending on location and experience.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Oversees the strategic planning and execution of technical training programs to meet the underwriting team's evolving needs, with an emphasis on product-specific expertise.

  • Analyzes underwriting practices and procedures; makes recommendations for best practices. Establishes Standard Operating Procedures for the department.

  • Manages Quality controls, provides oversight to internal processes, and ensures department is complying with SOX controls/certifications.

  • Establishes metrics and evaluation of underwriters’ workload, adherence to national processing expectations and established KRAs. Refines strategies based on data-driven insights for continuous improvement.

  • Provides feedback and coaching to underwriters and team members, fostering professional growth and measurable performance enhancements.

  • Collaborates with underwriting leadership, product development teams, and other cross-functional stakeholders to align training priorities with organizational goals.

  • Facilitates effective communication of procedural changes to ensure consistent team understanding and adoption.

  • Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and industry standards.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management and Insurance, Finance, Education, or a related field or equivalent experience.

  • Generally, a minimum of 9 years of experience in Underwriting, Product Management, or Technical Training, including a minimum of 4 years of leadership experience.

Scope of Job/Qualifications:

  • Typically manages 2 or more reports.

  • Implements policies, procedures, and strategies under the direction of management.

  • Ensures that training content is regularly updated to maintain relevance and compliance with applicable guidelines.
