POSITION DESCRIPTION: COST ACCOUNTING MANAGER

DrinkPAK is looking for an experienced Cost Accounting Manager to support the aggressive growth targets of the Company. This position will work very closely with the TX Controller to build and lead the cost accounting function required to be successful within a fast-paced, multi-client co-packing environment. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with deep manufacturing cost accounting expertise who is energized by building processes and developing a team. This position will be responsible for standard costing, job costing across multi-client production runs, inventory valuation, and margin analysis, while directly supervising cost accounting staff and partnering cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance.

LOCATION: The position is based at DrinkPAK’s Texas Beverage Manufacturing Facility in Fort Worth, Texas 

TYPE: Full Time; Salaried / Exempt

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own the standard costing process across all co-packing lines, including development and maintenance of bills of materials (BOMs), routings, and labor/overhead absorption rates by SKU.

  • Lead job costing for multi-client production runs, ensuring costs are accurately captured and allocated by customer and SKU.

  • Analyze and report on variances between standard and actual costs (material, labor, and overhead), yield, and waste, partnering with Operations to investigate root causes and drive corrective action.

  • Directly supervise, train, and develop cost accounting staff, reviewing their work and building bench strength as the team scales.

  • Prepare and review SKU-level and customer-level margin reporting to support commercial pricing and operational decision-making.

  • Own inventory valuation, including work-in-process (WIP) and finished goods, and lead reconciliations for company-owned and customer-owned materials.

  • Lead cycle counts and physical inventory audits, including root-cause analysis and remediation of variances.

  • Partner with Supply Chain and Operations to evaluate the cost impact of new customer onboarding, SKU changes, and production line changes.

  • Support month-end financial close as it relates to inventory, cost of goods sold, and standard cost true-ups.

  • Develop and catalog cost accounting procedures and policies, including segregation of duties and compensating controls, to maintain and enhance the company's internal control framework.

  • Ensure adherence to GAAP, internal controls, and company policies.

  • Support financial audits and tax filings as they relate to inventory and cost of goods sold, serving as a key point of contact for auditors on costing matters.

  • Identify and drive process improvements in cost accounting, inventory reporting, and ERP system enhancements.

  • Perform ad hoc assignments and special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, CMA, or CPIM preferred.

  • Minimum of 5–7+ years of cost accounting experience, including prior supervisory or team lead experience; CPG, co-packing, or manufacturing industry experience required.

  • Deep working knowledge of standard costing, job costing, BOMs/routings, and variance analysis (material, labor, overhead, yield, and waste) in a multi-client manufacturing environment.

  • Strong understanding of inventory valuation and WIP accounting in a production environment.

  • Knowledge of and ability to ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls over financial reporting, including segregation of duties principles.

  • Prior experience with SAP S/4HANA, NetSuite, SYSPRO, or similar ERP accounting software required.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop a team of cost accountants.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders, including executive leadership.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

  • Hands-on leader who enjoys building processes and developing teams in a collaborative environment.

  • Proven ability to meet strict deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, initiative, and ownership mindset.
