Position Overview:
This role offers an exciting opportunity to join Autodesk as legal business partner for the leaders and teams responsible for the Autodesk Platform. In this role, you will provide strategic legal support for Autodesk Platform teams, as well as partner with technical, business and legal colleagues across Autodesk on pivotal initiatives directly impacting the company’s ability to meet and exceed our strategic goals.
This position will report to the Sr Director, Sr Corporate Counsel, and it is hybrid, based out of our Portland, Denver, or Boston offices.
Responsibilities:
As legal business partner, oversee management of legal affairs for Autodesk platform teams responsible for platform capabilities, strategy and infrastructure.
Proactively partner with business leaders and team members (at all levels and in a variety of roles, including executives, software engineers, product management, business strategists and marketers) to build a trusted advisor relationship and provide global, strategic and business-focused legal counsel.
Advise on the legal implications of new technology, new business models, new strategies, and the ever-changing landscape of global laws and initiatives.
Support design, development and release of offerings by identifying and driving resolution of issues related to intellectual property, privacy, data security, data use, confidentiality, marketing, competition, and risk management
Negotiate, draft and advise on complex commercial, licensing and intellectual property agreements, including strategic partnerships and inbound technology (e.g., SaaS services and AI/ML models and tools).
Collaborate with legal colleagues and cross-functional stakeholders across the Company to achieve strategic initiatives.
Develop and implement processes, trainings, and risk positions to enable rapid business execution while mitigating risk.
Minimum Qualifications:
JD degree from ABA accredited university and member in good standing of at least one US State Bar.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience providing legal support to software and cloud service business at a law firm and/or corporate legal department.
Product counseling experience, including advising on intellectual property, global data privacy and compliance issues, or combination of these skills.
Experience negotiating complex technology transactions.
Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to interact authentically and professionally at all levels and with a wide variety of roles.
Ability to explain complex issues in an understandable and straightforward way tailored to the audience.
Practical and flexible. Able to handle ambiguity, juggle multiple matters at once, prioritize and shift from one situation to another.
Enthusiastic about solving problems and making a positive impact to the company.
Adept as taking a business-enabling approach. Able to come up with creative, pragmatic solutions that achieve corporate objectives while mitigating legal risk.
Committed to continuous learning and personal development.
Collaborative team player who is adept at working with, and learning from, colleagues to drive results. Solid sense of humor and humility.
Tech savvy and interest. General familiarity with technical aspects of AI (including machine learning and generative AI models) and some experience advising on the legal implications of AI is highly desirable.
Prior in-house experience in a SAAS, PAAS, or IAAS company is highly desirable.
