Controls Evaluation Manager (FS)
As a Control Evaluations Manager in the Financial Services Business Risk Office, you will lead a team of high-performing risk management professionals charged with assessing Financial Services' complex control environment. You will be a thought leader within the organization, influencing partners as you build a world-class Control Evaluations Program that will enable Financial Services to win safely in the market.
In this role, you will thrive in a cross-functional and collaborative environment that values unique perspectives, rewards innovation, and challenges the status quo. As an integral member of the team, you will have a high level of exposure across the company and partner closely with senior business and Risk Office leaders, Risk Management Program leaders, technology, compliance, legal, and operational risk partners.
In your role, you will:
  • Design and deliver an industry-leading control evaluations program;
  • Drive imperatives that deliver control design and operating effectiveness at creation;
  • Ensure flawless delivery of Risk and Controls Standard requirements;
  • Develop a deep understanding of business strategies, products, services, and risk profile;
  • Identify and assess the impact of the changing regulatory environment on program objectives and risk appetite;
  • Provide guidance and advice to business partners on implementing risk policies and programs;
  • Analyze data to proactively identify risks and trends and provide insights that support internal customers in decision-making;
  • Support internal business resource planning by providing transparency to testing program calendar;
  • Drive collaboration between the risk, compliance, technology, Supplier Management, and other business support functions (e.g., legal, privacy);
  • Ensure independent escalation of risk management gaps, issues, and concerns, including emerging risks and regulatory focus areas;
  • Identify opportunities to improve risk management practices and develop solutions to perfect risk management, eliminate waste, and deliver an exceptional customer experience
  • Manage certain special ad hoc risk management projects for the Business Risk Office

Basic Qualifications:
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent certification
  • At least 4 years of experience in Financial Services or Risk Management
  • At least 2 years of experience in People Management
  • At least 2 years of experience in project, process, or program management

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree, Masters Degree, Juris Doctorate, or MBA
  • 6+ years experience in Financial Services or Risk Management
  • 4+ years of experience leading cross functional teams
  • 4+ years of experience in project, process, or program management

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Plano, TX: $132,800 - $151,600 for Risk Manager
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
