About Brellium

Brellium's mission is a big one – to improve the standard of care across the US healthcare system. We’ve built AI-powered technology that helps healthcare providers deliver safer, higher-quality care - starting with the first real-time medical review platform built to fix clinical and compliance risks before they impact patients.
Each year, 1 in 20 people in the U.S. experiences a medical diagnostic or compliance-related mistake. Most providers lack the time, staffing, and tools to mitigate these issues - so they go unnoticed, impacting care quality and increasing clinical and financial risk.
Brellium is building the AI-powered platform that helps providers deliver safer, more consistent care by mitigating risk early and aligning patient visits with clinical best practices. Our goal is to give every provider in the U.S. the tools to deliver clinically excellent, data-driven care - at scale.
Brellium was founded in 2021. Since then, we’ve grown to serve over 250,000 providers across all 50 states who use Brellium to take better care of their patients and ensure data-driven, compliant care. We’re a Series A company with over $30MM in funding from First Round Capital, Left Lane Capital, and Menlo Ventures.

This Role Might Be For You If:

You are an experienced accounting leader who enjoys owning the financial backbone of a growing company. You thrive in environments where accuracy, rigor, and accountability matter, and you are comfortable balancing day-to-day execution with longer-term process improvement. You enjoy partnering closely with finance leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, and you bring an independent, thoughtful point of view to financial decision-making. You are motivated by roles with meaningful ownership and the opportunity to build scalable systems as the business grows.

What You’ll Do

As Controller, you will own Brellium’s accounting operations and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance as the company scales. Reporting to the VP of Finance, you will play a critical role in strengthening financial processes, supporting strategic decision-making, and preparing the company for continued growth and increased external scrutiny.

Accounting Operations & Close
  • Own the monthly close process, including general ledger review, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, T&E reimbursement, and customer and vendor contract accounting

  • Ensure timely, accurate GAAP-compliant financial reporting

Financial Controls, Compliance & Audit
  • Design, implement, and improve accounting processes and internal controls to support scale and compliance

  • Manage local, state, and federal reporting requirements and tax filings

  • Lead Brellium’s first external financial statement audit, including preparation of workpapers and coordination with auditors

  • Maintain strong compliance with U.S. GAAP and other applicable accounting standards

Cross-Functional & External Partnership
  • Manage relationships with external accounting firms, tax advisors, banks, and other professional partners

  • Partner closely with the VP of Finance on budgeting, forecasting, board materials, investor reporting, and ad hoc financial analyses

  • Provide clear, proactive insights into financial performance, trends, and variances to internal stakeholders

Team & Systems Leadership
  • Manage and develop internal and external accounting resources

  • Evaluate, implement, and optimize accounting systems and tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability

You’ll Be Great for This Role If You:
  • Have significant accounting experience in high-growth, small-team environments, ideally in SaaS

  • Bring deep expertise in U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls; CPA strongly preferred

  • Have hands-on experience managing monthly close, audits, and complex accounting areas such as revenue recognition and stock-based compensation

  • Are comfortable owning both strategic initiatives and detailed execution

  • Have implemented or improved financial and operational controls in scaling organizations

  • Communicate clearly with both finance and non-finance stakeholders

  • Are highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities and deadlines

  • Have experience with modern accounting and finance tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, Rillet, Ramp, Carta, Salesforce)

Compensation:

  • $150,000 - $175,000

We are committed to offering a comprehensive and competitive total rewards package, including robust health benefits, commuter benefits, and meaningful ownership opportunities through equity. Compensation decisions are made holistically, ensuring fairness and alignment with market benchmarks while recognizing individual contributions and potential.

Benefits offered include:
  • 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan

  • Equity Compensation

  • Dinner Provided via DoorDash & stocked kitchen for NY employees

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage coverage of up to 100% premiums for you and your family

  • HSA / FSA

  • 11 paid holidays each year

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Training and professional development

  • Hybrid Work Schedule (4 days onsite, 3 if located > 1 hour away)

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
