Join the team delivering the future of clean energy. As the Control Room Manager at Nexamp—America’s #1 community solar provider—you’ll play a critical leadership role in overseeing 24/7 real-time operations of a rapidly expanding fleet of distributed and utility-scale renewable energy assets.
You’ll lead a dedicated team of operators responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of Nexamp’s solar and energy storage systems—while maximizing energy savings for our customers. This includes managing day-to-day shift operations, enforcing operational procedures, supporting performance management, and ensuring alignment with company policies, NERC standards, and ISO market rules.
In this role, you’ll serve as the primary escalation point for operational issues, collaborate cross-functionally to optimize system performance and market participation, and foster continuous improvement to drive scalability and reliability. You’ll also play a key role in onboarding, training, and developing team members—supporting both individual growth and Nexamp’s continued expansion.

This role is based in our Lawrence, MA Operations Center. You will report directly into the VP, Nexamp Operations Center.
What you’ll do:
- Coordinates real-time operations using SCADA and energy management systems to monitor performance, diagnose issues, and direct timely resolution of alarms, outages, or anomalies.
- Collaborates cross-functionally with Clean Energy Deployment, Asset Management, Field Services, Energy Market Optimization, and SCADA/IT teams to optimize asset performance, customer savings, and revenue generation.
- Manages team performance by mentoring Dispatchers and Distributed Generation Operators (DGOs) by delivering training, coordinating schedules, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement in a 24/7 operational environment.
- Serves as the primary escalation point for operational issues, providing steady leadership during abnormal or emergency conditions and maintaining situational awareness.
- Holds the team accountable for meeting corporate Key Results (KRs) and team Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to asset uptime, responsiveness, and operational reliability.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable Nexamp policies, NERC reliability standards, and ISO market rules, particularly in ISO-NE, NYISO, and PJM territories.
- Drives process standardization and improvement, developing and refining workflows, documentation, and system usage to support safe, efficient, and scalable operations.
- Monitors operational data and trends, identifying system or procedural deficiencies and initiating corrective actions to enhance performance and reporting accuracy.
- Maintains team qualifications and certification requirements, ensuring Dispatchers are prepared to manage high-voltage systems, market participation, and regulatory expectations.
- Communicates effectively with internal stakeholders, utilities, and market operators, providing timely updates on major events, outages, or system issues.
What you’ll bring:
- 5+ years of relevant experience in power generation, transmission, distribution, or grid operations, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role within a 24/7 rotating shift environment.
- High School diploma or GED equivalence. Preference will be given to those that have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Operations Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Working knowledge of electrical systems; certification or prior experience operating high-voltage facilities is a strong plus.
- Demonstrated experience with power generation technologies, preferably within the renewable energy sector (solar PV and battery storage experience highly regarded).
- Proficient with operational and analytical software tools, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and database platforms such as Microsoft Access or similar. Familiarity with PI System (OSIsoft) is a plus.
- Experience with plant or fleet-level SCADA systems is highly desired, with the ability to troubleshoot, interpret, and act on real-time data.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret numerical data, identify trends, and support internal and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Detail-oriented and disciplined, with a methodical approach to work execution and documentation.
- Adaptable to change, capable of leading through operational growth and evolving procedures.
- Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, real-time operations environment.
- Willingness to work occasional 12-hour shifts and provide flexible coverage during emergencies or critical operational periods.Commitment to Nexamp's mission and have a passion for solving tomorrow's climate crisis today.
- Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization.
