Position Summary:

Empress is looking for a (senior) data scientist, Proteomics/Metabolomics to operate on a contract basis. Estimated contract is 6 months at 20 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with our in-house AWS infrastructure and pipeline teams to bring scale and automation to your code.
  • Consider the path from our data types (metabolomics, proteomics, phosphoproteomics, chemoproteomics) to our necessary inference.
  • Propose and champion solutions at all stages of this process – data generation to processing to inference – employing statistical modeling and machine learning approaches to augment our understanding.
  • Improve and leverage our existing raw data processing pipelines for DDA metabolomics, DDA proteomics, and DIA proteomics.
  • Collaborate closely with our chemoproteomics, synthetic biology, and metabolomics teams to build tools for the analysis, visualization, and reporting of data.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. with 1+ years or M.S. with 3+ years of relevant data science and software development experience
  • High level of proficiency in programming languages such as Python and/or R.
  • Familiarity with mass spectrometry software and databases (e.g., Proteome Discoverer, Skyline, Compound Discoverer).
  • Experience working with biological and mass spectrometry data types including chemoproteomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and natural product structures
  • Experience applying statistical and machine learning methods
  • Extremely collaborative, innovative, and driven to add value to diverse projects across Empress
