Commitment: Contract / Freelance (20–30 hours/week 6 month)

Docker helps developers bring their ideas to life by conquering the complexity of app development. Trusted by millions of developers around the world, Docker is in the midst of a creative resurgence—rebuilding its brand to match its product innovation and bold new vision.

As part of that evolution, we’re seeking a motivated and versatile Visual Designer to join our team on a contract basis. This role is perfect for a designer looking to level up—someone who’s solid on the fundamentals, excited to own day-to-day design work, and eager to grow their creative chops in a fast-moving environment.

The Role

As a Visual Designer, you’ll support a variety of brand, marketing, and web initiatives—from polishing graphics for social to exploring campaign concepts. You’ll work closely with senior designers and cross-functional stakeholders to bring the Docker brand to life across digital channels.

This isn’t a production-only role—but it does require someone who can block-and-tackle without ego. If you love making good things better, learning through doing, and taking pride in quality craft, we’d love to meet you.

What You’ll Do
  • Design assets for marketing, web, social, events, and presentations

  • Translate creative direction into high-quality visuals across multiple formats

  • Contribute to landing pages and microsites alongside senior designers

  • Ensure brand consistency and visual polish across all deliverables

  • Help evolve and maintain our design systems and asset libraries

  • Collaborate across content, marketing, and product teams to support launches and campaigns

What We’re Looking For
  • 3–5 years of experience in visual, graphic, or digital design roles

  • Solid portfolio that shows strong layout, typography, and attention to detail

  • Proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)

  • Familiarity with responsive design and web best practices

  • Strong communication skills and openness to feedback

  • A collaborative mindset and ability to manage your own time and deliverables

  • Bonus: experience with motion design, presentation design (Keynote, Google Slides), or developer-facing brands

Why This Role
  • Join a small but mighty team with high visibility and a ton of creative opportunity

  • Work on a brand developers love—and help define its next chapter

  • Grow your skills alongside seasoned design leaders

  • Be part of a culture that values craft, speed, and creativity

Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)

  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
