Job Description:

Summary

The Continuous Improvement Operations Manager (CIOM) position supports the in-shop development of Ryder Continuous Improvement culture across FMS business units and regions by implementing, coaching, and supporting a new maintenance shop operating model. The CIOM will drive change with the shop teams and the organization through focused CI efforts of performance in safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. This position will interact with employees at various levels, functions, and departments across the Region, BU, District, and shop. Including technicians, supervisors, managers, and directors. This position reports to the Continuous Improvement Manager of Field Operations.

 

The CIOM must possess a willingness and desire to work directly with his/her peers in the maintenance shop environment and throughout the maintenance organization to define and set a strategy for continuous improvement efforts for new and existing operations. This position will require travel to areas beyond the CIOM’s immediate home market via vehicle and/or airplane and may encompass overnight hotel stays. Experience in the FMS/transportation maintenance shop environment in a supervisor or management role is recommended but not required. With a focus on the truck maintenance facilities and processes the CIOM coaches, guides, and supports front line employees to ensure execution of the maintenance process and achievement of business objectives.

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated success at performance managing teams while leading, training, and developing the workforce, including effective delegation and oversight of assigned work

  • Understanding of labor, financial operating, quality, safety and asset processes and related metrics

  • Strong sense of personal accountability and a proven track record of achieving desired results

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

  • Proficient in basic computer skills and in a Microsoft Office environment

  • Ability to work with reporting systems to pull data for analysis and decision making (preferred)

  • Demonstrated success to a safe work environment, quality execution, and customer service as evidenced by previous experience and performance track record

  • Experience using Microsoft word and excel intermediate preferred

  • Experience with Fleet Management Software preferred

  • Maintenance and Technical experience in a shop environment preferred

Qualifications

  • H.S. diploma/GED required.

  • Associate's degree preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Three (3) years or more experience in an operations environment or demonstrated success in a Ryder role required.

  • One (1) year to Two (2) years or more Supervisory experience required.

Compensation Information:

The compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience; education, including relevant degrees or certifications; work location; market data/ranges; internal equity; internal salary ranges; etc. The position may also be eligible to receive an annual bonus, commission, and/or long-term incentive plan based on the level and/or type. Compensation ranges for the position are below:
