Job Summary: The Content Strategy Manager leads the development, execution, and optimization of content strategies that elevate nonprofit missions and drive measurable digital impact. This role sits at the intersection of creative, paid media, and data, ensuring that every asset—from ad copy to landing pages to storytelling frameworks—supports performance across Meta Ads, paid social, paid search, and Google Ad Grants.  You’ll partner closely with internal teams and nonprofit clients to translate goals into compelling content ecosystems, guide creative direction, and ensure all messaging is aligned, accessible, and optimized for conversion. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep experience in digital advertising, strong editorial instincts, and a passion for mission‑driven work.
Responsibilities:
Content Strategy & Development
Build and own content strategies that support paid media performance across Meta Ads, paid social, paid search, and Google Ad Grants.
Develop messaging frameworks, audience insights, and creative briefs that guide high‑performing campaigns.
Ensure all content aligns with nonprofit goals, brand voice, accessibility standards, and platform best practices.
Partner with creative teams to concept and refine ad copy, landing pages, scripts, and storytelling assets.
Identify content gaps and opportunities across the full funnel to improve engagement and conversion.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Paid Media, Creative, and Account Management teams to ensure content supports campaign objectives and performance targets.
Translate performance data into actionable content recommendations and testing roadmaps.
Collaborate with clients to understand their mission, audiences, and impact stories, turning them into compelling digital narratives.
Optimization & Performance
Lead content testing strategies, including messaging, creative angles, CTAs, and landing page variations.
Monitor campaign performance and provide insights that inform ongoing content refinement.
Maintain a pulse on platform trends, nonprofit storytelling best practices, and emerging content formats.
Leadership & Process Improvement:
Mentor junior team members and contribute to building content standards, templates, and scalable processes.
Uphold high editorial quality and ensure consistency across all deliverables.
Support agency‑wide initiatives to strengthen creative strategy and cross‑team collaboration.
Experience
8+ years of experience in content strategy, digital marketing, or creative strategy, ideally within an agency or nonprofit‑focused environment.
Proven experience developing content for Meta Ads, paid social, paid search, and Google Ad Grants.
Strong understanding of digital performance metrics and how content influences results.
Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to adapt tone and structure for different audiences and platforms.
Experience collaborating with creative, media, and client‑facing teams.
Ability to translate complex nonprofit missions into clear, compelling, action‑driving content.
Strong project management skills and comfort working in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
Passion for social impact and supporting organizations that drive meaningful change.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
