The Content Strategist is responsible for shaping and scaling a portfolio of test preparation and certification content within a multi-profession learning ecosystem. This role translates product and business goals into clear, actionable content strategies—driving roadmap development, prioritization, and execution across assets and modalities.
You will own the strategy and lifecycle of your content category, making portfolio-level decisions on what to build, adapt, extend, or retire based on exam requirements, curriculum changes, performance data, and business priorities.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring content is not only high-quality and defensible, but also scalable, reusable, and aligned to evolving learner and market needs. You’ll partner closely with Product, Project Management, Accreditation/Compliance, Psychometrics, B2B Solutions, and Talent teams to drive outcomes across the portfolio.
What You’ll Do
- Translate product and business objectives into a cohesive content roadmap for your assigned category
- Define priorities, themes, and release sequencing across formats and modalities
- Contribute market insights, portfolio recommendations, and risk/opportunity assessments to inform future strategy
- Ensure roadmap decisions align with exam requirements, learner needs, competitive landscape, and business goals Intake, Prioritization & Cross-Brand Reuse (20%)
- Lead intake and triage processes for test prep and certification content requests
- Clarify goals, audience, and success criteria to ensure strong alignment from the start
- Prioritize and group work to maximize cross-brand reuse and reduce redundant development
- Establish and maintain work-in-progress (WIP) limits to support predictable delivery Scope, Design & Brief Development (20%)
- Lead the scoping and design of test prep products, including defining the right mix of assets (e.g., question banks, flashcards, courses, study guides)
- Define detailed requirements, including coverage, depth, difficulty, learning objectives, and production standards
- Leverage AI-enabled workflows to accelerate planning, generating structured briefs and outlines with clear quality guardrails Mapping & Blueprint Alignment (10%)
- Oversee curriculum and test blueprint mapping across content assets
- Define and maintain standards for taxonomy, tagging, and traceability
- Partner with stakeholders to validate completeness and identify gaps or redundancies Library & Lifecycle Management (15%)
- Own the canonical content library for your category and establish a clear framework for build vs. adapt vs. retire decisions
- Drive ongoing maintenance strategies as exams, curricula, and requirements evolve
- Lead regular portfolio reviews to identify opportunities for revision, extension, replacement, or retirement SME Strategy & Quality Enablement (5%)
- Partner with Talent & Resource teams to define SME profiles and contributor needs
- Establish selection criteria and quality standards to ensure credibility and consistency
- Provide clear expectations, structured briefs, and feedback loops to reduce rework and improve outcomes Cross-Training & Portfolio Coverage (5%)
- Maintain working knowledge of Continuing Education (CE) strategy processes to support broader portfolio needs
- Provide support on CE initiatives during peak demand or coverage gaps while maintaining primary roadmap priorities
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree required (Education, Instructional Design, Psychometrics/Assessment, Communications, or related field preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in content strategy, test preparation, certification prep, assessment-driven learning products, or professional education publishing
- Proven ability to think at the portfolio level, managing a content library rather than individual assets
- Experience designing and scoping test prep products such as question banks, flashcards, courses, and study guides
- Strong experience with curriculum or test blueprint mapping and maintaining traceability over time
- Experience partnering with SMEs, including defining profiles, selecting contributors, and driving quality outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to translate business and product objectives into clear strategies, requirements, and execution plans
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across Product, Program Management, and B2B/Solutions teams
- Data-driven mindset, with experience using performance metrics and learner feedback to inform decisions
- Experience working with content and project management systems and maintaining clear documentation
- Comfort working in dynamic environments with evolving priorities and cross-functional dependencies
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with high-stakes or credentialing exam prep products
- Familiarity with blueprinting, item quality standards, and defensibility requirements
- Experience supporting multiple modalities and sequencing releases across formats
- Experience using AI in content planning workflows (e.g., generating structured briefs, improving planning efficiency)
- Experience supporting enterprise or academic partners requiring curriculum mapping
- Familiarity with continuing education (CE) or regulated learning environments
