Join us as we work to create a thriving ecosystem that delivers accessible, high-quality, and sustainable healthcare for all.

athenahealth is seeking a performance-driven Content Marketing Manager to support full-funnel content creation and our cohesive content strategy. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in content strategy and experience in healthcare, B2B, SaaS—or ideally all three—to produce authoritative, high-quality content that attracts and engages prospective customers across digital channels, including the athenahealth.com website, social, campaigns, and our YouTube channel.

You will play a crucial role in developing long-form, multimedia content that drives awareness, consideration, demand, and lead generation—including ebooks, research-driven assets, and digital content across channels. This role requires a deadline-driven operator who can pair strong editorial instincts with modern content production approaches, including the use of AI tools to accelerate output while maintaining human ideation, judgment, and quality control.

About the Team

The athenahealth Content Marketing team builds and distributes strategic, high-performing, story-driven content aligned to audience needs, buyer journey stages, and go-to-market priorities to amplify reputation and accelerate growth.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Create and support performance-driven content marketing initiatives across the full funnel—from top-of-funnel blog posts to lower-funnel product content—that reinforce thought leadership, brand reputation, and demand generation goals. Lead the creation of multi-format content (e.g., blogs, ebooks, research reports, infographics, videos, landing pages, guides) and maintain consistency in voice and messaging across channels.

  • Develop and manage content that fuels integrated marketing campaigns and nurtures leads across the funnel. Partner with Marketing Operations to track performance, run A/B tests, and optimize based on data-driven insights.

  • Monitor content performance metrics (traffic, engagement, conversion, attribution), generate insights, and apply findings to refine content strategy and execution.

  • Leverage SEO best practices and AIO (AI optimization) strategies to improve content visibility, organic reach, and overall discoverability across digital platforms.

  • Work closely with product marketing, brand, campaigns, creative, customer marketing, and sales to identify content needs and translate business goals into compelling, high-impact content.

  • Own the development of long-form and cornerstone content (e.g., ebooks, guides, research-driven thought leadership) and ensure it is effectively repurposed into digital content across channels.

Expected Education & Experience:
  • Excellent writer, editor, and communicator capable of taking complex topics and products and distilling them into content that fuels the funnel

  • Required experience in healthcare, B2B, SaaS—or a combination of all three

  • A rich portfolio demonstrating at least five years of experience creating long-form written business content—articles, reports, case studies, product guides, ebooks, and more—ideally in B2B or SaaS environments

  • Experience developing digital content across channels and repurposing long-form assets into formats such as blogs, social, video, webinars, and campaigns, with a strong understanding of channel-specific conventions

  • Track record of operating in deadline-driven environments, managing multiple priorities, and delivering high-quality content on time

  • Experience using AI tools to accelerate content production, with a strong understanding of how to pair AI-assisted workflows with human ideation, editorial judgment, and quality control

  • Journalism background or editorial training preferred, with strong instincts for storytelling, narrative structure, and audience engagement

  • Proactive self-starter capable of managing work independently and cross-functionally while meeting brand, legal, and strategic guidelines

  • Experience with SEO, GEO, CVR optimization, and other content performance metrics, with proven ability to deliver content that converts—and ideas for what to do when it doesn’t

  • Adaptable problem-solver with a curious mindset who is energized by content in a rapidly evolving digital landscape

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, marketing, business administration, communications, or related field

  • 5–7 years of related experience

Additional Items:
  • Please provide a resume that aligns with the requirements above

  • Provide a link to your portfolio of work

  • Extra credit: Please provide a short intro letter explaining why this position interests you

$81,000 - $139,000
