About the role

Hex is on a mission to make everyone a data person.

Over the past year, we’ve shipped major innovations that reimagine how people explore, analyze, and act on data, blending deep analytical power, governed context, and AI-driven self-serve in a single platform. Our customers use Hex to replace brittle BI dashboards, unblock overburdened data teams, and help entire organizations make better decisions with data.

Over the next year, we’re accelerating our growth by sharpening our point of view and investing more deeply in content as a core lever for brand, education, and demand. This role is central to that effort.

What you'll do

This is a hands-on, senior content role. You’ll own meaningful parts of Hex’s content engine end-to-end from idea to execution to iteration.

Strategy & Narrative

  • Help define and evolve Hex’s content strategy.
  • Translate Hex’s POV on analytics, AI, BI, and data teams into clear editorial themes and story arcs.
  • Identify the right formats for each idea (blogs, essays, videos, launch content, customer stories, etc).
  • Ensure consistency of voice, narrative, and quality across all written content.

Creation & Execution

  • Write high-quality content (blogs, essays, launch posts, explainers, opinion pieces).
  • Turn complex, technical concepts into clear, compelling stories.
  • Partner with designers, video producers, and PMMs to bring ideas to life across formats.
  • Edit and elevate content written by others (PMs, engineers, execs, customers).

Subject-Matter Collaboration

  • Work closely with subject-matter experts across product, engineering, data science, and sales.
  • Interview customers and internal teams to surface real stories, insights, and examples.

Distribution & Iteration

  • Collaborate on distribution strategy across blog, email, social, events, and launches.
  • Use performance data and qualitative feedback to refine topics, formats, and messaging.
What we're looking for
  • Hands-on creator: You love writing and creating content yourself, not just managing calendars or outsourcing execution.
  • Strong storyteller: You can turn abstract or technical ideas into narratives people remember and repeat.
  • Opinionated (in a good way): You have a point of view and aren’t afraid to take a stand.
  • Technically curious: You don’t need to be a data scientist, but you’re excited to learn how modern analytics, BI, and AI actually work.
  • High craft bar: You care deeply about clarity, structure, and quality and you know when something isn’t good enough yet.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity: You can move forward without perfect briefs, tight requirements, or obvious answers.
  • Collaborative: You enjoy working with PMs, engineers, designers, and executives to shape ideas together.

Some experience you might have had that would make you a good fit (not all of these are required, but it should paint a decent picture of the type of person we’re looking for):

  • Experience creating content for a B2B SaaS or developer-adjacent product
  • Writing that demonstrates both narrative skill and technical comprehension
  • You’ve partnered closely with product marketing, product, or engineering teams
  • Experience supporting product launches or major announcements
  • Familiarity with analytics, BI tools, data teams, or AI-powered products

This role will be hybrid (2-3 days per week in office) based out of our San Francisco or NYC office.

In addition to our unique culture, Hex proudly offers a competitive total rewards package, including but not limited to, market-benched salary & equity, comprehensive health benefits, and flexible paid time off.

The OTE (base + variable pay) range for this role is: $160,000 - $240,000.

The salary range shown may be a reflection of additional factors such as geographical location and skill ranges/levels we’re open to. Placement in the salary range will be decided upon completion of the interview process, taking into account factors like leaving room for growth, internal fairness & parity, your demonstrated skills, and the depth of your experience. Our Recruiting team will be able to provide more details during the interview process.

By submitting an application the candidate consents to the use of their personal information in accordance with the Hex Privacy policy: https://learn.hex.tech/docs/trust/privacy-policy.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
