This posting reflects an approved, open position within the organization.

About the Role:

Scribd is looking for a Social Content Lead to build our organic social channels from the ground up, starting with YouTube and LinkedIn. This role decides what Scribd makes for organic social, builds the formats that make it repeatable, while also honing in on further driving our creator program. It's a zero-to-one build, not the upkeep of something already running, which means the first six months are about invention: what the channel is for, what the recurring formats are, who's in front of the camera, etc. This is a hands-on senior role. You'll finesse the strategy and then go make the thing.

What You'll Do:

Channel Strategy & Publishing

  • Refine what Scribd's social channels are for, who they're for, and what we make for each

  • Design a slate of repeatable formats and series rather than a calendar of one-offs, and build the channel architecture to carry them

  • Own the integrated content calendar across organic social channels

  • Coordinate with campaign and community management so the channels are running consistently with one voice and tone

  • Keep stakeholders aligned from brief to publish

Content Development & Production

  • Concept and script content yourself, in detail. We have production partners, but they execute against your thinking, they don't supply it

  • Develop concepts with our in-house brand design team to land the look, feel, and on-screen treatment before anything goes to production

  • Brief and manage production partners through pre-production, shoot, and post, direct on set, and own the review cycle to final cut

  • Know what each format costs and make the call on what needs a production partner versus what we can shoot, cut, or repurpose internally

Creator Activations

  • Source, brief, negotiate with, and manage creators, and build a roster rather than a series of one-off engagements

  • Own the creator content pipeline end to end, from identifying talent through usage rights to delivery

  • Develop creator-led content that runs on our channels and theirs, and know which belongs where

  • Work with Legal on contracts, rights, and disclosure

Performance & Iteration

  • Define what good looks like per channel, retention and watch time on our channels

  • Maintain dashboards in Sprout Social and native platform analytics

  • Deliver a monthly read to brand leadership on what's working, what's being invested behind, and what's being cut

  • Run tests on formats, content pillars, and cadence, and flag what's working proactively

Who You Are:

  • 6-8 years in social content, organic channel growth, or content production, with time spent building rather than maintaining

  • You've made content that did more than perform, it brought new people to a brand and changed what they thought about it. You can point to the work and tell us what moved

  • You write your own concepts and scripts, and you've directed production partners against them rather than waiting for an agency to bring you an idea

  • You know what's good before the numbers tell you, you can say why, and you can defend a call that isn't the safe one

  • You've sourced and managed creators directly, including rates, contracting, and usage rights

  • Strong editorial and writing judgment

  • Proficient in Sprout Social or a comparable platform, and comfortable in native analytics

  • Comfortable moving between quantitative performance data and qualitative audience signal

  • Bonus: media, publishing, subscription, or creator-economy category experience

  • Bonus: exposure to paid social, you should understand how paid and organic work together even if you're not buying

  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)

  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
