RedHot was founded in 2010 by veterans from the US and Chinese video game outsourcing industries, which has enabled us to run as lean as possible, while still offering a robust array of services, all without sacrificing quality or security. Role Overview
The Concept Art Director, NA Production Pod at RedHot is responsible for leading the creative direction across multiple visual development projects for one client. This role combines artistic leadership, team mentorship, and client collaboration to ensure high-quality, on-brand, and on-time deliveries. The Concept Art Director also plays a key role in strategic planning, supporting business development efforts, and helping maintain RedHot’s creative reputation in the industry.

This role will help the client to manage not only RedHot’s concept production, but potentially also other OS partners from this client.

Creative Vision and Direction

  • Define and uphold the visual direction of projects across different IPs and styles. And ability to adapt to and understand an on-going title’s style.
  • Guide the creation of characters, environments, key art, props, and visual storytelling.
  • Ensure consistent visual quality and narrative alignment in all concept work.

Team Leadership and Mentorship

  • Supervise and mentor a team of concept artists across varying skill levels.
  • Provide clear, actionable feedback through reviews and paintovers.
  • Support artist development and contribute to evaluation and leveling processes.

Client Collaboration and Project Support

  • Collaborate directly with clients and producers to ensure creative expectations are met.
  • Assist in project scoping, creative planning, and milestone reviews.
  • Support Art Directors with additional direction and client-facing feedback when needed.

Strategic and Business Support

  • Contribute creatively to new business pitches and visual strategies.
  • Assess project feasibility, visual targets, and resource planning.
  • Stay informed on trends, tools, and workflows relevant to concept art (e.g., Blender, Unreal, AI).

QA and Workflow Optimization

  • Ensure deliverables meet RedhotCG and cleint’s quality standards before submission.
  • Collaborate with Production and Pipeline to improve documentation and processes.
  • Actively support workflow evolution by proposing and implementing better tools or methods.

Requirements
  • Worked on AAA game titles in a Senior Concept Artist or Art Director role.
  • Portfolio that demonstrates a range of styles, creativity and craftsmanship.
  • Effective communicator, collaborator, and problem solver able to coordinate between internal and external teams and deliver clear and concise feedback.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to accurately estimate tasks and maintain schedules.
  • Understanding other game art disciplines, their workflows and limitations (animation, character, environment, VFX).
  • Experienced working within a team and a high-pressure production environment.
