About Us:

Notion helps you build beautiful tools for your life’s work. In today's world of endless apps and tabs, Notion provides one place for teams to get everything done, seamlessly connecting docs, notes, projects, calendar, and email—with AI built in to find answers and automate work. Millions of users, from individuals to large organizations like Toyota, Figma, and OpenAI, love Notion for its flexibility and choose it because it helps them save time and money.

In-person collaboration is essential to Notion's culture. We require all team members to work from our offices on Mondays and Thursdays, our designated Anchor Days. Certain teams or positions may require additional in-office workdays.

About the Role

At Notion, we're crafting tools that transform how people work together, no matter where they are in the world. As our Compensation Partner, you'll help us build and design compensation programs—managing everything from executive compensation to IPO readiness while ensuring market competitiveness and internal equity. This is your chance to design and own a strategic program that directly shapes how we attract, retain, and reward talent across Notion as we continue to scale globally. You'll craft thoughtful policies while staying hands-on with execution, harness AI and automation to simplify complex processes, and collaborate with teams across Notion to navigate immigration requirements and mobility challenges. If you're energized by fast-moving environments, love building elegant systems from scratch, and want to make meaningful impact at a company reshaping how the world works, we'd love to connect.

Why This Role Now

Notion is scaling globally at a rapid pace. We need a builder who can work with high autonomy, develop strategic compensation programs alongside leadership, refine our executive compensation structure, and prepare for IPO readiness. This role blends program ownership with hands-on execution to deliver outstanding experiences for employees and outcomes for the business.

What you’ll do
  • This role will own executive compensation, support our G&A function as a comp partner, and work with our comp team on compensation program design.

  • Act as a key architect of Notion's overall strategy through compensation program leadership. Collaborate with our compensation team to design, implement, and manage Notion's compensation programs.

  • Strategic Leadership and Business Consulting: Partner with and lead business and HR leaders to align compensation programs and processes with business and people strategies.

  • Own executive compensation programs — lead the design, evaluation, and administration of executive compensation programs for executive levels, including base salary, annual incentives, and long-term incentives (equity). Support readiness for IPO by helping to refine equity and executive compensation practices.

  • Support materials preparation for Compensation Committee and Board review, including pay rationale, market data, and equity grant recommendations.

  • Contribute to building key Total Rewards capabilities, including process clarity and improvement, operating with excellence, improving communication with senior executives, and fostering an integrated team approach. Support the design, modeling, and administration of Notion's global equity programs, including new hire grants, refresh cycles, and performance grants.

What we’re looking for
  • 8+ years in global compensation operating across multiple regions, with at least 5 years in executive and equity compensation in a public or late-stage private company (SaaS or tech industry strongly preferred)

  • Experience partnering with senior HR leaders, Finance, and Boards/Comp Committees

  • Proficiency with compensation benchmarking tools and survey data (e.g., Radford, Mercer, Aon). Nice to have: experience working with exec comp firms (e.g., Compensia, Semler Brossy)

  • Thoughtfully designed approaches to differentiate rewards to reflect performance and impact

  • Proven program ownership: policy design, vendor selection, and measurable outcomes in fast-paced environments

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to prepare and present materials for senior leadership

We hire talented and passionate people from a variety of backgrounds because we want our global employee base to represent the wide diversity of our customers. If you’re excited about a role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every bullet point listed in the job description, we still encourage you to apply. If you’re a builder at heart, share our company values, and enthusiastic about making software toolmaking ubiquitous, we want to hear from you.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
