In this visible, cross-functional role, you'll work closely with the People & Talent team, business leaders, and Finance to deliver compensation programs that are fair, competitive, and aligned with our strategy. You'll be involved across the full compensation lifecycle, including planning, benchmarking, equity administration, and project execution. Your work will help ensure our programs scale effectively as we grow.
If you bring strong analytical skills, hands-on systems experience (ideally in a corporate or public company), and a passion for data-informed decision making, we'd love to hear from you.
What you'll do
  • Advise People Strategy Partners and business leaders by translating data into clear compensation recommendations.
  • Align compensation strategies with evolving business goals.
  • Handle core activities such as job pricing and support a variety of compensation-related projects.
  • Drive annual processes including merit reviews, bonus planning, and equity grants.
  • Support the design and rollout of short- and long-term incentive programs.
  • Ensure compliance with pay regulations and monitor market and legislative trends.
  • Lead annual survey submissions (e.g., Radford, Aon) and manage market data and job codes.
  • Conduct market pricing analysis and recommend job levels and salary ranges.
  • Maintain and support job architecture, leveling, and compensation bands.
  • Build dynamic Excel or Google Sheets models for planning and reporting.
  • Develop scalable tools that streamline workflows and deliver insights.
  • Maintain data integrity across Workday and other compensation systems.
  • Use Fidelity tools to support equity reporting and respond to internal questions.
  • Partner with People Strategy Partners, Talent Acquisition, and People Operations to provide compensation guidance.
  • Contribute to pay equity analysis and help maintain transparent, competitive pay ranges.
  • Support equity and compensation processes with data validation, reporting, and communication.

What You'll Bring
  • 3 or more years of experience in compensation or related roles, preferably in a corporate or public company setting.
  • High attention to detail, data accuracy, and confidentiality.
  • Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and automation.
  • Experience with Workday, Radford, and Fidelity is a plus.
Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently in a matrixed environment.
  • Experience with equity compensation is a strong advantage.
  • A collaborative and consultative working style.

If you're energized by data, collaboration, and impact, and are looking to grow in a strategic and visible role, apply now to join CarGurus as a Compensation Analyst.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
