Description

We’re looking for a Community and Events Program Manager to lead the strategy and daily operations of Tech School’s educator community. You’ll drive engagement, strengthen teacher relationships, and manage both online and in-person events to ensure educators and students feel supported, connected, and celebrated.

Please note that this is a hybrid position of 3 days/week in our NYC office.

About The Role
  • Build and maintain project plans, timelines, and cross-functional workstreams to ensure seamless delivery across Tech School initiatives
  • Own the strategy, operations, and daily management of Tech School’s educator community — including engagement, communication, and feedback collection
  • Lead our online teacher community (Slack): post regular updates, moderate conversations, answer questions, and foster inclusive, values-aligned dialogue
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for teacher-facing communication, aligning across instructors, curriculum, and logistics
  • Plan and execute in-person and virtual programming for teachers and students — including monthly program days, guest speaker events, and creative workshops
  • Coordinate training sessions for educators throughout the school year in collaboration with internal and external facilitators
  • Partner cross-functionally with teams including Legal, Workplace, Design, and Brand to ensure seamless execution of community initiatives and events
  • Design internal recognition moments for teachers — such as All Hands spotlights, newsletters, or content features — that celebrate success and amplify impact
  • Monitor and analyze engagement metrics, community health, and participation data to inform program improvements and reporting
  • Contribute to a strong, consistent community voice and brand across all educator-facing touchpoints

Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in community management, youth programming, or event production
  • Proven ability to manage complex programs from planning through execution — including timelines, communications, and stakeholder coordination
  • Track record of managing online communities (Slack preferred), including conversation moderation and engagement strategy design
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills — you know how to build trust and connection through content
  • Demonstrated ability to lead events, run the room, and create inclusive, welcoming experiences
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and cross-functional workstreams with clarity and calm
  • Strong design and storytelling sensibility — you make content feel cohesive, on-brand, and community-centered
  • Familiarity with NYC public schools or youth-serving organizations is a strong advantage.
  • Self-starter with a collaborative spirit and a passion for bringing people together

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
