The Communication & Content Manager will serve as a dedicated content resource for one of our higher education partners. In this client-facing role, you will help shape and express the university’s voice across key written channels, with a strong focus on email marketing, content sequencing, and storytelling that inspires action.
This position blends exceptional writing skills with strategic thinking to develop messaging that builds relationships, nurtures prospective students, and supports enrollment growth. Working closely with our internal team and university stakeholders, you will create content that aligns with both brand strategy and performance goals.
In addition, this role may support church engagement efforts. The ideal candidate understands how to communicate effectively with pastors and ministry leaders. Experience with the Church is strongly valued, along with the ability to craft messaging that resonates with church leaders—demonstrating awareness of their priorities, theological language, decision-making dynamics, and communication rhythms.
The Communication & Content Manager works collaboratively across departments to ensure copy is clear, compelling, and aligned with institutional goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Strategy & Collaboration:
- Work closely with internal teams to map content calendars and campaign priorities
- Strategically develop nurture sequences and content journeys aligned to enrollment and engagement goals
- Collaborate with marketing and enrollment partners to optimize messaging for clarity, consistency, and conversion
- Contribute written assets for weekly video announcements, newsletters, and campaigns
- Develop and refine style guides, tone frameworks, and copy standards that elevate messaging
Campaign & Content Copywriting:
- Write and edit persuasive, mission-aligned copy for University publications, campaigns, emails, text messages, web, print, and social channels
- Craft messaging that strengthens the university brand and prompts meaningful action
- Partner with video, design, and social teams to ensure messaging consistency across platforms
- Repurpose content into multiple formats (blog posts, newsletters, one-sheets, landing pages, etc.) to maximize reach and impact
- Translate strategic objectives into clear, compelling, conversion-focused messaging
- Serve as a trusted communications partner to the President's office, developing and executing crisis communications strategies that protect institutional reputation, ensure message accuracy, and maintain stakeholder trust during high-stakes situations
- Leverage AI writing tools to accelerate content production, improve draft quality, and expand output across channels -- while maintaining brand voice, editorial standards, and human judgment in all final copy.
Email Strategy & Sequencing:
- Develop, write, and refine email nurture campaigns for prospective students, families, church partners, educational partners, and community members
- Build multi-touch sequences that reflect the student journey, delivering the right message at the right time
- Build and/or review email templates to ensure final copy accuracy, brand alignment, and functionality
- Partner with Enrollment and Marketing Technology teams to track performance and adjust campaigns for improved engagement and conversion
Performance & Optimization:
- Track open rates, click-through rates, and engagement metrics to continually refine copy and messaging strategies
- Conduct A/B testing on subject lines, calls-to-action, and campaign flows
- Provide recommendations based on performance insights to strengthen storytelling and measurable impact
- Create surveys for post-event and post-campaign feedback to inform future initiatives
Success Metrics:
- Growth in prospective student nurture engagement and application starts driven by email campaigns.
- Increased email engagement and conversion rates.
- Strong alignment of copy with the mission and brand voice.
- Consistent, high-quality messaging across all written channels.
- Positive feedback from Enrollment and Marketing stakeholders on clarity and impact of copy.
Work Experience:
- 3–5+ years of professional copywriting, content marketing, or related experience
- Demonstrated experience writing high-performing email campaigns and nurture sequences
- Strong understanding of conversion-focused messaging and content journeys
- Exceptional written communication skills with careful attention to clarity and tone
- Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate effectively across teams
- Analytical mindset with experience using data to optimize messaging
Strongly Preferred:
- Experience in higher education, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations
- Experience communicating with pastors, ministry leaders, or church networks
- Familiarity with church culture, leadership structures, and theological language
