The Hilb Group is currently seeking a motivated and ambitious Commercial Lines Sales Manager to join our team. This position will report to our agency located in Canton, MA. The ideal candidate will be motivated to succeed, is well organized, able to prioritize, and able to work well with a team. This is an in-office position.
Responsibilities:
Lead, coach, and develop a team of 8–20 commercial P&C producers at various stages of career progression
Deliver structured onboarding and ongoing training aligned with the firm’s sales curriculum and growth framework
Mentor producers on consultative selling, discovery meetings, risk analysis, proposal presentation, and closing strategies
Identify skill gaps and implement targeted development plans to improve individual and team performance
Own and deliver the agency’s commercial sales training program, including:
Prospecting and pipeline management
Sales call structure and discovery techniques
Value-based selling and differentiation
Cross-sell and account expansion strategies
Reinforce consistent sales behaviors, messaging, and best practices across the producer group
Coordinate with leadership, marketing, and carrier partners to enhance training initiatives
Establish clear production expectations, activity metrics, and growth goals for each producer
Conduct regular one-on-one meetings focused on pipeline review, activity levels, and progress against goals
Track performance metrics including new business commissions, close ratios, retention, and book growth
Create a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and results orientation
Partner with producers on key prospect meetings and strategic client opportunities
Assist in sales strategy, market positioning, coverage structuring, and proposal development
Support producers in navigating complex or competitive sales situations
Reinforce client-centric, advisory-driven engagement that supports long-term retention and growth
Work closely with service teams to ensure smooth handoffs and client onboarding
Strengthen relationships with carrier partners to support producer education and placement strategy
Provide leadership with insights on sales trends, pipeline health, and resource needs
Qualifications:
7+ years of experience in Commercial Lines Property & Casualty insurance
Demonstrated success in sales leadership, producer management, or high-performing producer roles
Strong understanding of commercial insurance markets, underwriting, and risk advisory concepts
Proven ability to coach, motivate, and hold sales professionals accountable
Active P&C insurance license
Prior experience managing or mentoring a team of producers
Experience building or executing a formal sales training program
Industry designations such as CIC, CRM, ARM, or similar
Background in an independent agency or national brokerage environment
Improve producer consistency, confidence, and close ratios
Increase team new business production and long-term book quality
Support producers in achieving and exceeding individual growth targets
Establish repeatable, scalable sales processes across the organization
Competitive base salary plus performance-based incentives tied to team production and growth
Long-term career path into Market Leader, Regional Sales Leader, or Executive Leadership roles
Opportunity to directly influence producer success and enterprise revenue growth
Benefits:
Compensation: $175,000-$225,000/yr. Plus incentive based on teams' producers meeting sales goals.
