YOUR ROLE
The Small Commercial Placement & Service Specialist is responsible for managing the placement of small commercial risks with insurance carriers on behalf of retail agents. This role includes both securing new business and servicing an existing book by assisting with renewals, endorsements, and general policy maintenance. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of carrier appetites, underwriting guidelines, and agency workflows to ensure a seamless experience for agents and their clients.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
New Business Placement:

  • Review small commercial insurance submissions and determine the best carrier placement.
  • Work with carriers to obtain quotes, negotiate terms, and bind coverage.
  • Provide retail agents with guidance on carrier appetites, underwriting requirements, and submission best practices.


Servicing Existing Book of Business:

  • Manage renewals by proactively reviewing policies, obtaining updated quotes, and securing coverage.
  • Process policy changes, endorsements, and cancellations as requested by agents.
  • Assist with claims inquiries and liaise with carriers to resolve service-related issues.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation within agency management systems.


Agent Support & Relationship Management:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to retail agents, ensuring a smooth placement and servicing experience.
  • Provide training and support on carrier guidelines, technology platforms, and process efficiencies.
  • Foster strong relationships with both agents and carrier partners to drive business growth.


Operational Excellence & Compliance:

  • Utilize insurance technology platforms to streamline quoting, submissions, and policy management.
  • Ensure compliance with carrier requirements, state regulations, and internal procedures.
  • Track and report key performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in commercial insurance placement, underwriting, or servicing, with a focus on small commercial risks.
  • Strong knowledge of carrier markets, underwriting guidelines, and coverage options.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills to support agents and carriers effectively.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple accounts in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in insurance technology platforms, comparative raters, and agency management systems.
  • Insurance designations (CIC, CPCU, AU, or similar) are a plus.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to sit/stand/walk for prolonged periods of time, (up to 8 hours per day) at a desk working on a computer.
  • Must be able to use standard office equipment for extended periods of time, including but not limited to, a mouse, keyboard, phone and video conferencing.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to access and navigate the corporate office.

The expected starting salary range for this role at Bold Penguin is $50,000 to $75,000. This position offers a competitive salary range that may vary based on experience and qualifications.
