Chewy is looking for a Cloud Engineer I to join our team in Boston, MA!

We are seeking a Cloud Engineer to support our public cloud adoption (AWS & GCP). In this role, you will act as a technical expert, contributing to the design and implementation of software components for large-scale distributed systems.You'll help ensure that software development and systems management work seamlessly together to achieve reliability and scalability.

What You'll Do:

  • Design and implement simple, scalable, maintainable, and repeatable solutions in AWS and GCP
  • Develop self-service solutions to empower internal teams to efficiently build on Chewy's platform
  • Participate in cloud readiness assessments, workshops, roadmaps, and application modernization to drive cloud-native architecture adoption
  • Automate monitoring and support solutions for public cloud platforms and streamline software development and release processes
  • Act as a technical Subject Matter Expert for AWS and GCP adoption
  • Work with software engineering teams to build infrastructure automation and services that simplify large-scale distributed system operations.
  • Define Infrastructure as Code (IaC) standards and collaborate with software development leadership to enhance reliability and scalability
  • Participate in On-Call support, responding to incidents as needed


What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Telecommunication Systems Management, or a related field
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with public cloud infrastructure (AWS & GCP)
  • Background in DevOps, Software Development, Site Reliability, or Systems Engineering
  • Experience with Terraform/IaC, IAM, Networking, Secrets Management, Jenkins, and other DevOps/Service tools
  • Expertise in designing scalable, fault-tolerant, highly available, and globally distributed systems
  • Knowledge of on-premise and cloud networking (VPC, TGW, routing)
  • AWS Solution Architect Associate Certification or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with Agile Scrum and Kanban methodologies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to lead technical initiatives

  • Linux System Administration experience
  • Aviatrix administration skills
  • Experience with Akamai
  • Experience with Wiz
