The Clinical Development Operations Associate is an innovative professional-track position supporting the I&I Clinical Excellence & Innovation organization within Pfizer Research & Development. Based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, this individual will provide operational, project coordination, communication, and business support to clinical development leadership and key departmental initiatives.
Operating within a modern, AI-enabled work environment, the Associate will leverage productivity tools, workflow automation platforms, and data analytics technologies to improve operational effectiveness, streamline processes, and support efficient execution of departmental and business priorities. These tools will allow efficiencies and the ability to streamline redundant tasks.
The role provides unique exposure to clinical development leadership and serves as a structured 24-month career launchpad for high-potential early-career professionals. Through direct engagement with clinical development leadership and participation in key operational activities, the Associate will develop foundational skills and experiences that support future career opportunities and enterprise roles in Clinical Development, Clinical Sciences, Business Operations, Innovation, and broader Pfizer Research & Development functions.
What You Will Achieve
Clinical Development Leadership Support & Team Coordination
  • Design and manage leadership team meetings, decision forums, agenda setting, and action tracking.
  • Connect work across teams, remove barriers, and ensure alignment on shared priorities.
  • Coordinate and manage complex workflow for Clinical Development leadership.
  • Organize leadership meetings, prepare agendas, coordinate materials, capture actions, and track completion of deliverables.
  • Support preparation of presentations, communications, reports, and leadership updates.
  • Facilitate team activities, onboarding coordination, and departmental operational processes.
  • Act as AI coach and partner to facilitate adoption of tools. Liaison between Enterprise AI teams and I&I Development teams to facilitate AI integration in day to day activities

Business Operations & Project Coordination
  • Support departmental operational initiatives, project plans, milestone tracking, and leadership team priorities.
  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and coordination of operational dashboards, reporting processes, and business metrics. Surface insights for leadership
  • Monitor timelines, deliverables, and key workstreams, proactively identifying risks and escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding activities for new employees and team members
  • Own or drive special projects, transformation efforts, organizational initiatives, or strategic workstreams.
  • Approx. 35%

Budget, Vendor & Contract Administration
  • Assist with departmental budget tracking and expenditure monitoring.
  • Coordinate purchase requests, invoices, vendor engagements, and contract administration activities.
  • Maintain records of consulting agreements, vendor relationships, and departmental operational documentation.
  • Partner with Portfolio and Operations, Finance and Business Operations colleagues to support financial management processes.
  • Approx. 15%

AI-Enabled Productivity, Communications & Knowledge Management
  • Draft leadership messaging, town hall content, updates, talking points, and stakeholder communications.
  • Leverage AI-enabled productivity tools, workflow automation platforms, and analytics solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Draft and coordinate internal communications, newsletters, town hall materials, leadership updates, and recognition communications.
  • Support maintenance and modernization of SharePoint sites, Microsoft Teams channels, organizational information repositories, and department knowledge management resources.
  • Serve as a collaborative point of contact across Clinical Development, Finance, HR, Pfizer Digital, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Support adoption of new tools, processes, operating models, or strategic shifts.
  • Approx. 15%

Here Is What You Need .
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences( Biology, Immunology, Molecular Biology), Business, Operations, Healthcare Administration, or a related discipline.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, research, business operations, or related environments.
  • Experience supporting project coordination, business operations, administrative operations, or clinical development activities is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, Copilot, Gemini or Claude
  • Experience leveraging AI-enabled productivity tools, workflow automation platforms, and data analytics technologies to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Experience with or demonstrated ability to learn business systems, workflow tools, reporting platforms, and operational technologies.
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities and professional presence with senior leaders and cross-functional internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving capability, continuous improvement mindset, and ability to manage confidential business information with discretion and integrity.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
  • This position reports directly to the VP, Head of Clinical Excellence & Innovation, I&I Clinical Development. The role works closely with the I&I Clinical Development Leadership Team, Clinical Scientists and Clinical Development colleagues, Clinical Excellence & Innovation team members, R&D Finance partners, People Experience (PX) partners, Pfizer Digital colleagues, Business Operations and Support organizations, and external vendors, consultants, and service providers as appropriate.
  • The position serves as a key operational partner supporting leadership communication, coordination, project execution, and departmental effectiveness initiatives.

RESOURCES MANAGED
  • Individual contributor role with no direct reports. Provides coordination of departmental operational activities, budget and key workstream tracking, team communications, contract administration, and leadership operational support. Supports operational execution and tracking activities but does not have direct budget ownership or spending authority.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $74,000.00 to $123,300.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
