LOCATION:  U.S. locations – remote/hybrid.  Candidates within commuting distance of a Wolters Kluwer office will be considered for hybrid employment. Candidates not within commuting distances will be considered for remote employment. 

OVERVIEW
Wolters Kluwer, UpToDate® and Lexidrug® is seeking experienced clinicians to join our team as Clinical Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategists. This role is central to shaping the future of trustworthy, clinically intelligent AI systems. You will work cross-functionally to embed clinical reasoning into AI architecture, guide system validation, and ensure outputs remain faithful to our trusted content store. You will help define a new standard for clinical decision support—leveraging your clinical expertise across medicine, patient safety, quality, and health system operations to build AI that truly supports patient care. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical AI Strategy & Development (80% to 100%)

  • Collaborate on cross-functional teams to design and refine AI system, include strategic approach and technical exaction of architecture, prompt strategies, and clinical search logic. 
  • Define and maintain clinical indices and decision pathways that reflect real-world reasoning across specialties. 
  • Lead and contribute to validation processes.
  • Development of clinical test sets and benchmarks. 
  • Execution of red teaming protocols and safety checks. 
  • Continuous expert testing to ensure outputs are clinically faithful and meaningful. –
  • Translate user feedback into system improvements, working closely with product, engineering, and editorial teams. 
    Monitor and research regulatory frameworks and risk management strategies
  • relevant to clinical AI. 
  • Serve as a clinical liaison between the AI team and traditional editorial operations, helping to align workflows and standards. 
  • Represent Wolters Kluwer externally through white papers, conference presentations, and thought leadership. 

Clinical Practice (optional up to 20%) 

  • Clinicians may allocate time to maintain active clinical practice, ensuring continued relevance and real-world insight; existing clinical stipend for physician editors will continue to apply. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: MD, DO, PharmD, Advanced Practice Provider, or equivalent clinical degree.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of clinical practice, with demonstrated depth in patient care and breadth across domains such as hospital administration, patient safety, quality improvement, clinical research, medical education, or publishing.
  • Active clinical practice preferred; board certification preferred.
  • A valid medical license in at least one U.S. state, preferred
  • Familiarity with evidence-based medicine and editorial workflows.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills; ability to translate clinical reasoning into system logic.
  • Experience working in agile, cross-functional environments; ability to build trust and break down silos.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and rapid iteration; ability to pivot quickly based on feedback and evolving strategy.
  • Strategic mindset with ability to contribute to central clinical content strategy and influence product direction.
  • Prior experience with AI, informatics, machine learning, or digital health innovation is a plus.

TRAVEL:  1 week every six weeks for team meetings

Compensation:

Target salary range CA, CT, CO, DC, HI, IL, MA, MD, MN, NY, RI, WA: $199,300 - $282,100
