About the Role
The Client Systems Manager leads a software engineering team responsible for the platforms that power GMO's Global Client Relations, Digital Marketing, Shareholder Services, and Investment Analysis functions. Success in this role would be defined by partnering with Marketing, Product Distribution and other key stakeholders, to deliver and evolve client-facing systems-including CRM, client engagement tools, sales enablement platforms, and client/fund performance systems-to drive increased distribution reach and sales team productivity. The ideal candidate will be accountable for innovation, quality, and operational excellence across the technology suite.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the primary technology liaison for sales, marketing, and client relations teams, managing expectations and aligning delivery priorities
- Represent Client Systems in cross-functional working groups and technology leadership forums
- Provide regular project status and roadmap updates to senior leadership
Team Leadership
- Manage and develop a team of software engineers and technical staff implementing and supporting client and distribution focused and fund/client performance focused technology systems
- Build collaborative partnerships with peer engineering managers across the Software Engineering & Platform Architecture group
- Work closely with the Technology Transformation team to generate meaningful technology innovations and upgrades in support of the product distribution and marketing effort
- Conduct performance reviews, set goals, and provide ongoing coaching and career development
Application Ownership & Delivery
- Own the strategy, roadmap, and day-to-day delivery for client technology systems, including Salesforce CRM, Seismic, and other internally developed applications
- Lead initiatives to enhance CRM capabilities, including integration of generative AI features
- Manage the gmo.com platform and client portal in partnership with Marketing and Distribution teams
- Using generative AI tools and techniques oversee lead generation technology and workflows
- Provide technical guidance to the team on design, architecture, and implementation decisions
- Lead response to critical production issues, coordinating triage, resolution, and post-incident follow-up across stakeholders
Vendor & Risk Management
- Manage vendor relationships, including contract oversight, due diligence and security questionnaires
- Ensure systems meet regulatory and compliance requirements, partnering with Security and Risk teams as needed
Platform Modernization
- Drive adoption of GMO’s evolving software engineering practices within the Client Systems team
- Collaborate with Platform, Architecture, and Trading/Operations teams to align shared infrastructure and standards
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in technology, with at least 3 years managing engineering or IT teams
- Strong stakeholder management skills; comfortable engaging with senior business and technology leaders, able to translate business requirements into technical specifications
- Experience developing/managing large scale applications and platforms.
- Financial services, investment management industry, and wealth management/intermediary background strongly preferred
- Experience managing enterprise CRM platforms, (candidates with deep Salesforce experience are strongly preferred), client-facing SaaS ecosystems, CMS platforms, and Marketing Automation tools
- Actively engaged with market-leaders in the investment management industry to understand best-in-class client data-infrastructure and distribution and marketing platforms
- Exposure to Performance Measurement and Investment Analysis concepts and systems
- Familiarity with software delivery practices, vendor risk management, and regulatory compliance requirements
