* Job Summary:
* The Mid-Level IT Systems Administrator will support the daily operations and maintenance of federal IT systems, ensuring secure, reliable, and efficient performance. This role involves managing servers, networks, and user environments in compliance with federal cybersecurity and operational standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in Windows and/or Linux environments, virtualization, and federal IT compliance frameworks.
* Key Responsibilities:
* Administer and maintain Windows and/or Linux servers, Active Directory, and network infrastructure.
* Perform system updates, patching, and configuration changes in accordance with federal security guidelines (e.g., DISA STIGs).
* Monitor system performance and availability; troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
* Support backup and disaster recovery operations and ensure data integrity.
* Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls in compliance with agency policies.
* Assist with system deployments, upgrades, and migrations.
* Maintain system documentation, including configuration baselines and change logs.
* Collaborate with cybersecurity personnel to ensure systems meet FISMA and NIST SP 800-53 requirements.
* Respond to audit requests and support continuous monitoring activities.
* Provide Tier II/III support and escalate issues as needed.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
* 3- 5 years of experience in systems administration, preferably in a federal or DoD environment.
* Experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
* Familiarity with federal IT compliance frameworks (e.g., FISMA, NIST RMF).
* Working knowledge of networking protocols and services (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
* Experience with PowerShell or Bash scripting for automation.
* Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
* Preferred Certifications:
* CompTIA Security+
* CompTIA Server+
* Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator
* AWS SysOps Administrator
* , or
* VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
* ITIL Foundation
* or equivalent
* Familiarity with
* eMASS
* ACAS
* , or other federal tools is a plus
* Additional Requirements:
* Will sit in San Diego, CA
* Must have an Active Secret clearance.
