We’re recruiting a Chief of Staff to join the Canopy Connect leadership team. This person will work closely with the CEO and COO as their right-hand person. The successful candidate will have an outsized impact on the business and will act as the primary “go-to” person on issues large and small.

We expect that successful candidates may come from a variety of backgrounds. What we are looking for is a combination of analytical rigour (e.g. accounting, law, management consulting or finance) and start-up experience in similar roles.

This role is expected to be largely unstructured. Examples of projects that this role may take on include:

  • Follow-up communications from COO/CEO meetings with key customers and partners
  • Strategic accounts sales support (e.g. capture strategy, sales enablement materials, voice of exec in prospect calls)
  • Prepare the quarterly board report and investor letter
  • Special projects as they arise
    • Cross functional revops optimization
    • MSA rewrite
    • Customer success process flows and optimization
    • Pricing & packaging decisions
    • Channel partner optimization

 About you:

  • 4+ years professional experience
  • Experience in B2B SaaS, particularly at a product-led growth org with DTC/SMB and enterprise lines of business (Stripe, Slack, Grammarly, etc.)
  • Experience at a Series A or earlier startup
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and comfortable working in nebulous environments with minimal oversight
  • Clear, concise, and confident communicator (both written and verbal)
  • Lifelong learner
  • Extraordinarily organized

 Bonus points for:

  • Experience at a company selling APIs and/or data (vs. a platform)
  • Experience in insurance, payments, banking, FinTech, and/or InsurTech
  • Experience at hypergrowth startup that scaled substantially during your tenure
  • Prior roles in BizOps, Special Projects, or Strategy
  • Prior experience as a founder

We are hiring in the United States and Canada to work fully remotely.

The expected compensation range for this role is $140k-165k and could increase beyond that commensurate with experience

Our Benefits

  • Healthcare: We offer company-sponsored health, dental and vision insurance for employees and dependents.
  • Equity: We are a team of owners and we provide our team with generous equity grants.
  • Time to Recharge: We offer unlimited paid time off. Unplug, recharge, and come back refreshed.
  • Remote Friendly: We are a fully distributed team. We all work remotely. We offer a $1,000 stipend to equip you with a home office that is comfortable and personalized to your needs.
  • Friday Reimbursed Lunch: Order lunch on Fridays, and we'll cover it!
  • 401K: We offer a 3.5% match.

Our Core Values

  • Be Worthy of Trust | We are building critical infrastructure that processes sensitive data. We earn trust every day by being transparent, honest and clear to all stakeholders.
  • Find a Way | We seize opportunities and iterate quickly. We refuse to get blocked. We are relentlessly optimistic about possibilities. Tenacious and creative, we find a way.
  • Own It | We are owners of the product and the company, and we own our successes as well as our failures. We value people who embody extreme ownership.
  • Think “We” Not “I” | We prioritize the success of the team over individual contributions. The best decisions are made through triangulating the opinions of the team. Productive disagreement leads to good decisions. We don’t tolerate brilliant jerks.
  • Raise the Bar | Our standard is to be the best in the world at what we do. We redefine excellence each day.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
