Company Overview

Deepgram is the leading voice AI platform for developers building speech-to-text (STT), text-to-speech (TTS) and full speech-to-speech (STS) offerings. 200,000+ developers build with Deepgram’s voice-native foundational models – accessed through APIs or as self-managed software – due to our unmatched accuracy, latency and pricing. Customers include software companies building voice products, co-sell partners working with large enterprises, and enterprises solving internal voice AI use cases. The company ended 2024 cash-flow positive with 400+ enterprise customers, 3.3x annual usage growth across the past 4 years, over 50,000 years of audio processed and over 1 trillion words transcribed. There is no organization in the world that understands voice better than Deepgram.

Company Operating Rhythm

At Deepgram, we expect an AI-first mindset—AI use and comfort aren’t optional, they’re core to how we operate, innovate, and measure performance.

Every team member who works at Deepgram is expected to actively use and experiment with advanced AI tools, and even build your own into your everyday work. We measure how effectively AI is applied to deliver results, and consistent, creative use of the latest AI capabilities is key to success here. Candidates should be comfortable adopting new models and modes quickly, integrating AI into their workflows, and continuously pushing the boundaries of what these technologies can do.

Additionally, we move at the pace of AI. Change is rapid, and you can expect your day-to-day work to evolve just as quickly. This may not be the right role if you’re not excited to experiment, adapt, think on your feet, and learn constantly, or if you’re seeking something highly prescriptive with a traditional 9-to-5.

Opportunity:

Deepgram is hiring a Chief of Staff to help the CEO and Executive Leadership Team turn strategy into consistent execution. As the company grows quickly, this role will design and drive the operating rhythms that keep priorities clear, goals measurable, and leaders aligned. Equal parts strategic partner, operator, and force multiplier, you’ll help us move fast without breaking the wrong things—driving clarity across priorities, strengthening planning and accountability systems, and freeing the CEO and leadership team to focus on the highest-impact work.

This role sits between a founder’s associate and a traditional Chief of Staff: strategic enough to see around corners, operational enough to ensure the day-to-day work actually gets done.

What You’ll Do
  • Create clarity and accountability – Build and maintain company goals, OKRs, and metric-tracking systems so commitments are well defined and progress is transparent.

  • Run executive operating cadences – Shape and facilitate CEO and leadership meetings, business reviews, leadership offsites, board preparation, and cross-functional initiatives, ensuring decisions and insights consistently turn into action.

  • Hold the team accountable to decisions – Track progress on agreed goals and drive follow-through when momentum stalls.

  • Surface and resolve conflicts – Spot dependencies, trade-offs, and misalignments early and lead resolution.

  • Translate vision into execution – Partner with leaders to scope, resource, and track key projects from start to finish.

  • Lead special projects – Drive high-impact, ambiguous initiatives that cut across departments.

  • Plan events as needed – Partner with leaders to plan and execute key internal events and offsites that strengthen alignment, culture, and connection.

  • Act as the CEO’s force multiplier – Anticipate needs, manage priorities, and free the CEO to focus on the highest-leverage work.

Who You Are
  • Background in startups, consulting, strategy, or operations, ideally with exposure to technical or AI-driven businesses.

  • Thrive in fast-moving, ambiguous environments and shift easily between technical and business topics.

  • Not afraid of tough discussions and holding people accountable to outcomes.

  • Communicate with clarity and precision at every level of the organization.

  • Relentlessly organized with strong project-management instincts and the ability to keep others two steps ahead.

  • High-judgment operator who handles sensitive information with discretion.

  • Builder mindset: you don’t just flag gaps—you close them.

Why This Role Matters

Deepgram moves fast, and this role ensures we stay focused on what matters most. By tightening goal-setting, aligning leadership, and making progress visible, you’ll help the company scale without losing speed or discipline.

This is a career-accelerating opportunity with visibility across the entire business and a direct impact on the future of voice AI.

Backed by prominent investors including Y Combinator, Madrona, Tiger Global, Wing VC and NVIDIA, Deepgram has raised over $85 million in total funding. If you're looking to work on cutting-edge technology and make a significant impact in the AI industry, we'd love to hear from you!

Deepgram is an equal opportunity employer. We want all voices and perspectives represented in our workforce. We are a curious bunch focused on collaboration and doing the right thing. We put our customers first, grow together and move quickly. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, marital status, veteran status, disability status, pregnancy, parental status, genetic information, political affiliation, or any other status protected by the laws or regulations in the locations where we operate.

We are happy to provide accommodations for applicants who need them.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
