Overview:

Reporting to the COO/CFO, the Chief Integrity & Compliance Officer (CCO) implements, is responsible for, and monitors a risk-adequate and effective Integrity & Compliance Management System. The CCO defines and implements the Integrity & Compliance strategy in accordance with international and national standards, the legal requirements of Scout Motors operations, and general corporate requirements. The CCO provides independent advice to the Scout Management Board, management, and employees, in addition to targeted training and communications with the goal of anchoring and increasing integrity, avoiding corruption, fraud, embezzlement and money laundering, as well as observing business and human rights. To make a decisive contribution to the reputation and value of the company, the CCO ensures that Integrity & Compliance are an integral part of Scout Motors business strategy.

The ideal candidate should possess an expert understanding of ethical principles, compliance frameworks, and regulatory requirements, along with excellent communication and analytical skills.


What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Develop, steer, and independently manage an effective and efficient company-wide Integrity & Compliance Management System in accordance with local law and existing corporate requirements with the aim of promoting ethical behavior across Scout and its subsidiaries.
  • Independently responsible for the implementation of - and compliance with – the company’s Whistleblower Policy, including a confidential third-party reporting channel, in accordance with local legal requirements.
  • Lead the development of measures to improve the compliance and ethics-related strategy of the company. This includes adapting the corporate Integrity & Compliance Strategy to the requirements of Scout.
  • Steer an effective and efficient process for the development and ongoing maintenance of policies. Examines and evaluates corporate policies for relevance while assuring compatibility with applicable local laws and internal processes.
  • Develop and implement an enterprise-wide risk management program that identifies and prioritizes risks across the company's operations and assures the implementation of proactive measures to mitigate those risks.
  • Foster a culture of ethical behavior by promoting awareness and understanding of Scout’s code of conduct, company policies, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Select relevant target groups and ensure appropriate communications to strengthen an Integrity & Compliance culture
  • Serve as the Money Laundering Officer for the company.
  • Establish Integrity & Compliance internally and externally as a recognized value driver
  • Recruit, manage, and professionally develop a team of qualified Integrity & Compliance employees.
  • Build strong working relationships with relevant federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships internally with Scout Motor’s and the Volkswagen Group
  • Serve as a trusted resource for employees seeking guidance or clarification on ethical matters and compliance-related issues.
  • Monitors emerging compliance issues, trends, and regulatory developments and provides guidance regarding internal process modifications.
  • Assures the development and delivery of training programs to educate employees on ethical standards, compliance requirements, and company policies.
  • In matters related to Integrity & Compliance, represent Scout internally and externally.
  • Maintains subject-matter-expert knowledge in the area of risk management, integrity and compliance management.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor performance, identify issues, and drive continual improvement of the I&C management system.
  • Develop and control the Integrity and Compliance investment and annual operating budgets.
  • Report directly to the COO/CFO

Location & Travel Expectations:

  • The role will be based at the future Scout Motors headquarters, with significant travel required to other Scout Motors' locations.
  • The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. 
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • Bachelor's degree in law, business, finance, or a related field; Juris Doctor (JD) or Master of Business Administration (MBA) preferred.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in compliance; including a minimum of 5 years corporate leadership oversight for compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant laws and regulations in the industry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal business leadership, regulatory agencies and external partners.
  • Strong commitment to professionalism, integrity, and maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Experience implementing a Compliance Management System and/or Internal Control System is preferred.
  • Professional certification(s) in ethics and compliance (e.g., CCEP or CRCM) preferred
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Passport required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively as needed.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $190,000.00 - $220,000.00
