Kiva is a nonprofit that’s been expanding access to capital through crowdfunded loans for nearly 20 years. Our brand is trusted and loved by a global community of people who’ve helped millions of borrowers start businesses, go to school, and improve their lives.
Now we’re entering a new chapter. We're reinventing our platform, launching new products, and refreshing how we connect with the world. Our B2B partnerships with leading companies and foundations are growing quickly. At the same time, we’re reimagining the consumer experience so that many more people can discover the joy and impact of funding a loan on Kiva.
We’re looking for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to guide Kiva’s financial future. This mission-driven, strategic finance leader will oversee all financial operations across Kiva and its affiliates, including off-balance sheet funds, and serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team. This is a rare opportunity to shape the financial strategy of a beloved, global nonprofit while helping scale our impact responsibly and sustainably.
At Kiva, financial strategy is not just about sustainability—it’s about enabling our scale in service of global inclusion.
What You’ll Do
- Lead all financial operations. Oversee financial planning, accounting, audit, tax, treasury, and fiscal management in alignment with Kiva’s strategic goals.
- Drive strategic decision-making. Analyze and forecast financial assets (loans), loan capital, and assets under management to support long-term planning.
- Own capital strategy. Shape and communicate financial forecasts, sustainability plans, and investor confidence strategies.
- Ensure compliance and controls. Maintain a strong internal control environment and lead all audits, 990 filings, and regulatory reporting.
- Oversee structured funds and affiliates. Guide off-balance sheet fund management to align with Kiva’s financial and social impact goals.
- Enable data-driven leadership. Deliver operational insights and critical financial information to the Board, CEO, and senior stakeholders.
- Build financial tools and systems. Enhance transparency and equip teams with the systems they need to track progress and manage budgets.
- Lead the budgeting process. Direct annual budgeting and multi-year financial planning across departments and initiatives.
- Mentor and grow the finance team. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation within the Finance function.
- Partner across the organization. Collaborate with executive and senior leaders to ensure alignment between financial goals and Kiva’s mission.
You Might Be a Fit If You:
- Have 10–15+ years of progressive experience in financial management, including FP&A, audit, tax, accounting, and treasury.
- Bring hands-on expertise in forecasting and modeling financial assets, liabilities, and revenue streams.
- Have held key leadership roles with team oversight and strong cross-functional collaboration.
- Are comfortable managing complex fund structures and working with CDFIs, asset managers, fintechs, or similar entities.
- Have experience in nonprofits, impact investing, or global organizations (a plus, but not required).
- Possess sharp analytical and problem-solving skills, and a track record of improving financial systems.
- Lead with integrity, transparency, and a deep sense of accountability.
- Are energized by building systems, mentoring teams, and aligning finance with mission-driven growth.

- Friendly, supportive, and adventurous environment with a team of engaged colleagues
- A comprehensive, industry-leading benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, parental leave, professional development, 401k matching, and unlimited PTO. Some of these benefits have eligibility requirements. Many of these benefits are subsidized or fully paid for by Kiva.
- Opportunities to connect with and learn from colleagues and partners around the world
- Salary range: $285K - $320K; a final offer will be dependent upon a candidate’s location, skills and experience.
