Job DescriptionAECOM is looking for an experienced. The position is based out of our Chelmsford, MA office, although the work may be done remotely. The selected candidate will be responsible for leading a team of chemists to provide technical and logistical oversight for Federal environmental projects. Key responsibilities include task management, staff supervision, technical leadership, quality assurance, data analysis and interpretation, and client communication. Strong interpersonal and technical writing skills are critical, as is the ability to work effectively with internal and external team members and clients. The selected candidate must be well organized and have experience managing and prioritizing several assignments at one time, while delivering quality products on time and within budget.
This role involves managing all aspects of environmental chemistry programs, from data collection and analysis to ensuring regulatory compliance and developing long-term environmental strategies. Therefore, the Chemistry Senior Manager will be expected to:
Manage, mentor, and guide assigned staff.
Set priorities and provide technical direction to the team.
Plan, scope, and oversee multiple environmental chemistry projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to project goals and budgets.
Manage the collection, validation, and interpretation of complex environmental data. Review results to ensure they meet project criteria and are communicated effectively to clients and regulators.
Provide expert guidance on analytical methodologies, sampling and analysis plans, and data quality assurance.
Communicate and collaborate with stakeholders.
Review and approve final work products prior to submission to clients.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BA/BS in Chemistry or related scientific field of study plus 10 years of relevant experience including at least two years in a leadership role or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
25+ years combined experience in environmental chemical laboratory analysis, data validation, and/or environmental consulting.
10+ years of experience writing UFP-QAPPs
In-depth knowledge of USEPA analytical methods especially SW-846-series methods
Experience interpreting analytical methods and standard operating procedures
Must have either commercial laboratory analytical experience or data validation experience
Proven track record managing chemistry teams and analytical laboratory subcontractors in support of large environmental programs
Experience with operation and use of analytical laboratory equipment (e.g., ICP, ICP-MS, HPLC, GC, and/or GC/MS)
Experience with Department of Defense (DoD) Quality Systems Manual (QSM) for Environmental Laboratories Version 6.0
Experience with Department of Defense Data Validation Guidelines and Modules
Experience with EPA National Functional Guidelines for Data Review
Experience using automated data review systems such as EDMS, FUDSChem, or EPA EXES
Familiarity with Earth Soft's EQuIS database program
