About Montauk

Montauk Capital is an investment management platform that spans venture investing and venture studio efforts. We focus on building and backing tech companies in the Electron Economy, the generational shift to electrified, intelligent businesses and sectors that we expect will redefine how the world grows. From AI, data centers, and Web3 to industrial robotics and re-shoring supply chains, the future of growth is built on electrification and the intelligent use of energy.

About AI Economics OS

AI Economics OS is being established to solve the gap between foundational LLMs and companies developing AI-native applications or embracing AI in day-to-day operations. As enterprises move from AI prototypes to production, they face a fragmented landscape of fluctuating costs, uneven model capabilities, and increasing vendor lock‑in. The market lacks a neutral, intelligent decision layer that sits between applications and models to manage this complexity.

Enterprise AI spend is compounding, but the tooling to manage it has not caught up. AI Economics OS is being built to answer that question natively. AI Economics OS is the layer enterprises will use to measure, attribute, and govern the economics of their AI.

About the CEO Role

We are looking for a founding CEO to build AI Economics OS into the definitive operating system for AI economics. This is a day-zero role: you will set the product thesis, close the first cohort of design partners, hire the founding team, raise the seed, and build the commercial and technical foundation for the category.

The right person has lived at the intersection of enterprise AI infrastructure, RevOps or FinOps, and SaaS go-to-market. You understand how companies buy, deploy, and evaluate AI. You are comfortable selling a services-first wedge while building toward a platform, and understand the pain points of CFOs and RevOps leaders when it comes to token usage, model lock in and AI infrastructure, and equally credible to engineering buyers.

As CEO, you will be responsible for translating our technical vision into a thriving business, building the company from first principles while leveraging Montauk Capital's studio resources. You'll define go-to-market strategy, build a world-class team, establish product-market fit, secure additional funding, and position AI Economics OS as the industry standard for AI compute optimization.

What You'll Do

Define company strategy and position AI Economics OS as the industry standard for revenue-aware compute

Sell the north star vision and drive communications, product and commercial strategy.

Build integrated go-to-market approach that combines product-led growth with enterprise sales, establishing strategic partnerships that accelerate market adoption.

Guide product roadmap from initial routing capabilities to full revenue aware compute offering, balancing customer needs with competitive differentiation and long term expansion.

Drive external funding processes from leading investors while maintaining strong board relationships and transparent communication.

Build a high-performing founding team and organizational culture that attracts top talent and scales effectively through rapid growth phases.

Drive business fundamentals including unit economics, customer retention, and operational efficiency to support scalable long-term growth.

What You’ll Bring

10+ years driving impact across AI infrastructure.

Deep understanding of the pain points of scaling across model and AI tooling usage

Commercial & Product Leadership: Proven track record as a product-savvy leader capable of translating concepts such as model routing and LLM revenue & cost dynamics, into a high-velocity commercial engine.

Proven commercial success bringing novel AI/ML infrastructure and / or revenue optimization products to market and scaling them from initial customers to significant revenue milestones.

Strategic GTM Mastery: Deep understanding of the technology landscape with a "black book" of contacts in the target customer space; mastery of steering technical products from initial pilot through the complex enterprise adoption process.

Entrepreneurial Grit: High-intensity "hustler" mentality with a strong bias toward action and a history of navigating high-variance outcomes in ambiguous, zero-to-one environments.

Business Incubation: Experience building or incubating a significant business line, new product, or early GTM team, demonstrating the ability to scale a nascent idea into a revenue-generating operation.

Deep technical fluency in AI/ML model routing, cloud computing, or adjacent domains with ability to engage credibly with engineering teams and technical buyers.

Demonstrated track record finding product-market fit, building repeatable sales processes, and driving revenue growth in technical, product-led environments.

Why Join Us

Category-Defining Opportunity: Build the robust routing layer that becomes essential for every company building AI-native applications and/or adopting AI tools

Massive Market Opportunity: AI spending projected to exceed hundreds of billions annually

Studio Support: Leverage Montauk Capital's resources, network, and operational expertise during critical early stages

Technical Moats: Proprietary performance telemetry and vendor-neutral positioning create sustainable competitive advantages
