Job Summary  

The Category Manager is responsible for developing and executing category strategies to drive cost savings, supplier performance, and value across the assigned product or service category: bedding and textiles. Analyzes market trends, negotiates with suppliers, collaborates with internal stakeholders, and ensures that procurement activities support the company’s goals in quality, cost, and delivery. Provide insight into the business unit on how to best develop and leverage supplier capabilities for the organization. 

 

 Primary Responsibilities and Duties  

  • Monitor category performance through KPIs and provide regular reports to leadership.
  • Manage supplier onboarding, compliance, and performance evaluations. 
  • Develop and implement category strategies aligned with overall business objectives. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Finance, Operations, Marketing, R&D) to understand business needs and ensure alignment. 
  • Drive Total Cost of Ownership reductions for category including optimization of supply network (Tier 2 and 3 suppliers), cost models, and implementation of category and supplier strategies.  
  • Proactively identify opportunities to drive efficiency/process improvements, cost reductions, and new business opportunities.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks. 
  • Analyze spend data and supplier performance to inform sourcing decisions. 
  • Build and manage relationships with key suppliers; negotiate contracts, pricing, and service levels. 
  • Stay current on industry developments, regulations, and best practices. 
  • Identify and elevate areas of highest risk within the category and lead multi-functional teams to develop actionable risk mitigation strategies.  
  • Work closely with key stakeholders including Engineering, R&D, Product, and Supply Chain to develop effective cost reduction strategies and network optimization.  
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications 

Education, Related Experience, Certifications  

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • 2-4+ years of related professional experience required.
  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or similar certification preferred.
  • Experience in textile and filled goods manufacturing and/or sourcing strongly desired.  

 

 Knowledge, Skills  

  • Excellent Communication skills (written and verbal), including executive communication required.
  • Ability to work well in a cross-functional, matrix management environment with a highly collaborative, team-oriented approach to problem solving required.

 Working Conditions and Schedule   

  • Hybrid schedule: three days in the office, two days remote.
  • Standard business hours, Monday-Friday, with occasional evening or weekend support as needed.  
  • Up to 25% travel, including international travel.

Salary Pay Range: $73,800.00 -$98,333.00
