Position Summary

The AoPS Academy Campus Director at our Cambridge campus leads a vibrant, dynamic after-school program where each day brings new opportunities to engage students, mentor instructors, and solve meaningful challenges. This full-time role includes both the school year and summer, A key part of the role is engaging with families and growing campus enrollments, ensuring a thriving learning community.

The Campus Director will:  

  • Lead all day-to-day campus operations
  • Manage the full-time and part-time campus staff, including hiring, training, evaluating, and scheduling
  • Drive student enrollments and retention to meet business objectives 
  • Strategically manage and plan for budgets, staffing needs, student enrollments, and class schedules
  • Create a warm and welcoming campus environment for students, parents, and staff
  • Regularly meet with current and prospective families in-person and virtually
  • Teach the AoPS curriculum in dynamic, participation-oriented classes that focus on understanding and developing skills, not on rote memorization
  • Build community partnerships and attend outreach events to increase awareness of AoPS in the community and plan engaging educational events at the campus
  • Complete other tasks and responsibilities, as assigned

Opening a New Campus: The First 6 Months 

  • AoPS Academy is a multi-site organization with 20+ physical campus locations across the nation and growing
  • Our headquarters, located in San Diego, CA, provides comprehensive remote support to all campuses. The Campus Director will work closely with our HQ teams throughout the launch process and ongoing operations
  • For Campus Directors joining us to launch a new location, the initial months require a unique "founder's mentality" and spirit. During this crucial launch period, you will:
  • Build your campus from the ground up, focusing on community outreach and establishing local presence
  • Take a hands-on approach to campus setup, working closely with the Academy Expansion and Academy Operations teams to coordinate vendors, order supplies and ensure the space reflects AoPS Academy’s standards
  • Focus heavily on recruitment, hiring and training of teachers and administrative staff, marketing, and enrollment building in the period of time before classes begin
  • Wear multiple hats and adapt quickly as needs arise during the launch phase

Opening Timeline:

We're targeting a spring start date for this position, with our campus scheduled to welcome students in fall 2026. Both the offer and start date are contingent upon confirmed campus opening timelines.

The ideal candidate has: 
All of the following required qualifications:

  • Teaching experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Math and/or Language Arts subject matter expertise
  • Strong leadership and supervisory experience with demonstrated skill in effectively hiring, training, managing, coaching, and evaluating diverse teams of employees

Some or most of the following preferred qualifications:

  • Advanced degree
  • Primary/secondary teaching experience
  • Experience supervising other managers
  • Experience managing in an educational environment
  • Marketing, recruitment, or community engagement experience
  • Ability to teach advanced students in grades K-12

Work Schedule:

  • AoPS Academy is an after-school program; most of our classes and operational responsibilities occur during the evenings and on weekends. It’s expected that Directors work a nontraditional schedule during the school year. Summer hours typically shift to a more standard Monday to Friday work schedule.
  • The schedule typically combines weekday afternoons / evenings and at least one weekend day.
