Job Summary

The Materials Buyer position will be responsible for the purchasing activities of Mena production materials and coordination between all business departments to resolve material issues preventing maximized production.

Job Description

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supply Chain Management:
    • Manage suppliers to ensure priorities, specifications and costs are met.
    • Maintain existing supplier relationships, identify and qualify new sources.
    • Maintain continuous focus on quality, lead-time and price improvements.
    • Manage logistics activities (transport, import customs, warehousing and plant receiving).
    • Address non-conformance issues with suppliers (quality and delivery).
  • Purchase Order Management:
    • Ensure accurate and timely processing of all activates related to purchasing materials. 
    • Document and notify all concerned parties regarding shortages, delivery, and related issues.
    • Monitor delivery dates, total fulfillment and other key vendor performance and purchasing metrics.
    • Resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Maintain current quality, cost and product knowledge.
    • Maintain inventory accuracy with cycle counting and adjustments.
    • Strategic Purchasing: determine inventory levels to support sales/customer needs, through planning and inventory analysis.
    • Ensure that correct ERP systems planning parameters are maintained.
  • Project Management:
    • Identify and qualify supply source for required materials.
    • Coordinate material qualification process with Supplier, Engineering, Quality and Operations departments.
    • Develop planning, ordering and stocking systems for new materials.
    • Manage use-up of legacy material and phase-in use of new.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 2+ years purchasing/office experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS Degree
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Previous employment in manufacturing
