CLA, one of the nation’s largest public accounting and professional services firm is currently seeking a Valuation Senior with opportunities to sit in our Boston, MA Offices.

Our clients come to us to gain an understanding of the value of their business for a starting point to making the critical decisions that drive growth. We walk alongside owners to help them understand their business worth across a variety of valuation scenarios. Our Valuation team includes industry leaders who focus solely on valuing businesses and can shed light on the current and future risk areas and growth opportunities that are unique to each client’s business. 

Position Summary

The Valuation Senior Associate will serve as a key contributor in CLA’s Valuation team taking on increasing responsibility in performing business valuations for financial reporting, tax reporting, transactions, strategic planning and other purposes.

Our Valuation team performs valuations of business enterprises, intellectual property, intangible assets, common and preferred stock and other securities along with complex securities including debt instruments, options, warrants, and other embedded derivatives. These services assist clients with financial reporting; business/management planning; mergers and acquisitions and dispositions; gift and estate tax reporting; tax planning and restructuring; litigation and dispute support; and strategic planning. We also provide valuation support for our Assurance Teams. The right individual will grow their valuation skills and experience through hands on training, client interaction and mentoring to follow their inspired career.

As a Valuation Senior Associate, you will:

  • Provide valuation services to clients while building client relationships and assuring continued close personal attention to client needs.

  • Demonstrate project leadership qualities by assuming a supervisory role and leveraging work effectively.

  • Train and coach associate staff members in preparation to take on more complex assignments and additional responsibilities.

  • Conduct detailed financial statement analysis; complex financial and transactional modeling; income, market and cost/asset approach analyses; and detailed company and industry research and analysis.

  • Prepare thorough narrative report, comprehensive presentations, and oral presentations to internal and external clients.

  • Support multiple client engagements of varying size and complexity, on time and within budget, and communicate valuation results to supervisor.

  • Keep Valuation Manager/Director/Principal aware of engagement status and issues as they arise

Your experience likely includes:

  • 3+ years of experience in valuation or a similar consulting practice/function servicing client.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • ABV, ASA, CVA, or related certification or working towards completing requirements for these certifications preferred

  • General knowledge of accounting principles and reporting of financial data.

  • Willingness to learn new technologies.

  • Proficient with Microsoft (MS) Windows and Office products.

  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to client sites.

Our approach to compensation emphasizes collaboration and career growth. We pay competitive wages and view compensation as an investment in our people. Factors such as geography, experience, education, skills, and knowledge may impact position of pay within the range.

The compensation range for this position in Massachusetts is: $86,000.00 – $142,000.00
