Job Purpose
The Business Systems Senior Analyst leverages discretion and judgment to develop technology solutions that meet the organization’s business needs. This role independently engages with stakeholders and business partners to gather, analyze, and document requirements. The analyst produces clear, detailed specifications and collaborates with IT teams to develop, test, and deploy solutions. Following the organization’s system-development life cycle (SDLC), this role ensures successful delivery of projects and maintenance initiatives for both clients and internal business partners.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze business processes to identify requirements and translate complex needs into functional, actionable user stories and detailed specifications. Work closely with business users, QA, developers, and technology teams in an Agile environment to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and the IT organization, ensuring requirements are implemented accurately and on schedule. Communicate any significant changes in requirements to stakeholders promptly.
- Collaborate to define systems scope and objectives based on user needs, business systems knowledge, and industry best practices.
- Ensure accurate data processing through validation, reporting, and quality checks to maintain error-free business operations.
- Aggregate and integrate data from multiple sources to enhance business analytics and decision-making capabilities.
- Maintain high standards of data accessibility, quality, and integrity.
- Oversee the deployment of new data products and solutions, ensuring positive outcomes for business stakeholders. Develop and maintain training materials and comprehensive business documentation.
- Follow the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), ensuring all required steps are completed before releasing code or solutions.
- Provide application and production support for systems under management.
- Mentor and guide less experienced Business Systems Analysts.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in finance, economics, computer science, or a technology-related field.
- 2–5+ years of experience in the financial services industry, preferably supporting buy-side technology.
- Solid understanding of Equity, Fixed Income, and Derivatives asset classes.
- Strong SQL skills and familiarity with investment data management.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make independent decisions.
- Firm knowledge of the systems development lifecycle and Agile methodology.
- Demonstrated ability to develop innovative solutions to meet business requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with investment management platforms such as Charles River, Eagle, or IBOR technologies.
- Prior project experience with cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure.
