About Treeswift
The way energy companies manage their infrastructure hasn't kept pace with the challenges they face. Treeswift is changing that, helping utilities modernize their field operations with AI-powered technology that reduces risk, improves reliability, and scales with the demands of a rapidly changing grid.
We deploy AI-powered sensor systems into utility field operations, mounted on backpacks and vehicles, to collect LiDAR and imagery data at scale. Our models turn that raw data into actionable intelligence: reducing wildfire, outage, and regulatory risk from vegetation; preventing cost overruns on new construction; and accelerating recovery after storms.
Since our first utility pilot in June 2024, we've grown to work with three of the five largest utilities in the United States. We're just getting started.
Our team brings deep experience from Penn, Caltech, CMU, Palantir, Stripe, MongoDB, and Oracle, and we're backed by leading investors including Penny Pritzker's Inspired Capital. We're headquartered in lower Manhattan with an office in Philadelphia and field presence across the country.
We're moving fast on a problem that matters. The work we do has real consequences for real people, and there's a lot of runway ahead, including time in the field with our customers. Come build it with us
The Position:
Treeswift is hiring a Business Operations Associate to join a small, high-performing team responsible for many of the operational systems and cross-functional workstreams that keep the company running and enable it to scale.
You will report to the Head of Business Operations. This is an early-career role for a highly analytical, highly competent generalist who wants to become an exceptional startup operator. You will gain broad exposure across finance, people operations, legal and compliance, vendor management, internal systems, and strategic projects.
The work is intentionally varied. In the same week, you might build analysis for a leadership decision, coordinate a contract or insurance renewal, improve a recurring workflow, prepare a concise project update, and make sure a time-sensitive cross-functional initiative reaches completion.
The value you create will come from combining structured thinking with excellent execution. You will begin by owning clearly scoped processes and project components, and your scope will expand quickly as you demonstrate judgment, accuracy, and follow-through.
What You'll Do:
Own day-to-day operational workflows across finance, legal, people operations, vendor management, and internal systems, ensuring work is completed accurately and on time.
Build analyses, financial models, dashboards, and decision materials to support leadership on budgeting, hiring, vendor, and strategic decisions.
Coordinate cross-functional projects from kickoff to completion, driving alignment, accountability, and timely execution.
Improve the way we operate by documenting processes, building lightweight automations, and identifying opportunities to make workflows more efficient.
Manage and maintain core business systems (e.g. Notion, Justworks, Google Drive) with a focus on accuracy, organization, and scalability.
Take ownership of high-priority, fast-moving projects across the business, using sound judgment to solve problems and drive results with increasing independence.
Who You Are:
Typically 1-3 years of full-time experience in strategy, finance, or operations at a fast-growing technology company. Investment banking or management consulting is also considered.
Strong quantitative and spreadsheet skills in Excel or Google Sheets, including the ability to structure an analysis from incomplete inputs and clearly explain the conclusion.
Excellent written communication and the ability to turn messy information into concise, decision-ready output.
Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and follow-through across multiple concurrent workstreams.
High agency and resourcefulness: you can make meaningful progress without perfect instructions and know when additional context is genuinely needed.
Sound judgment about when to make a recommendation, when to ask a question, and when to escalate an issue.
Discretion when working with confidential financial, legal, people, customer, or company information.
Willingness to handle both analytical work and the detailed operational follow-through required to implement it.
Comfort with rapid context switching, direct feedback, and a fast-moving environment with high accountability.
Experience with regulated industries, hardware, infrastructure, utilities, or government-adjacent work is a plus, but not required.
Bonus Points For:
Prior experience at an early-stage startup, especially building operational processes, improving internal systems, or managing cross-functional projects.
Exposure to utilities, energy, infrastructure, hardware, or other regulated industries.
Experience with vegetation management, forestry, geospatial data, or related technical domains.
