GiveCampus is the world's leading fundraising platform for non-profit educational institutions. Trusted by 1,300+ colleges, universities, and K-12 schools, our mission is to help advance the quality, the affordability, and the accessibility of education. We received a seed investment from Y Combinator in 2015 and have pursued a strategy of 'Sustainable Growth' ever since: achieving six consecutive years of profitability and positive cash-flow while more than quadrupling our revenue, our customer base, and our team. In 2022, we raised $50 million to accelerate the next stage of our growth.

Through The GiveCampus Social Mobility Initiative, we've donated $1 million in free fundraising support for programs that help low-income students, first-generation students, and underrepresented minorities. And in 2022 and 2023, we were named to Y Combinator's Top Companies list and the Inc. 5000 list of America's fastest-growing private companies.

While we operate at meaningful scale (we've facilitated more than $6 billion in charitable giving), we’re still small relative to the commercial and social good opportunities in front of us. Every GiveCampus employee has a substantial impact on our trajectory, and we're growing to help schools achieve even greater results.

Our purpose-driven team of 90+ is located across the US: team members work from anywhere they choose. We have a beautiful 12,000sf office in Washington, DC that is available for people to use whenever they want, and we regularly organize team meet-ups, events, and retreats in various locations. We're looking to expand our team with diverse and collaborative doers who believe in our mission and the transformative power of affordable, high-quality education.

As the first-ever Business Intelligence team member at GiveCampus, you will be the cornerstone of our data-driven future. Reporting into Business Operations, you will own and build the Business Intelligence function from the ground up—working closely with Sales, Partner Success, Data Engineering, and Data Science to surface actionable insights, architect backend systems, and guide the adoption of modern BI tools.

We will measure your success with one simple question: what insights can you elevate that help  schools raise more money? This is a unique opportunity for a high-impact, insight-obsessed individual contributor to define the future of BI at GiveCampus. You will not only answer questions -we want you to find the ones we didn’t even know to ask.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Build and own the Business Intelligence practice at GiveCampus from day one
  • Design, develop, and maintain high-impact dashboards and reports that empower all business units—especially Sales and Partner Success
  • Collaborate closely with Data Engineering to shape and optimize backend data architecture (e.g., Snowflake, dbt)
  • Evaluate and lead the implementation of new BI tools, ensuring scalability and usability
  • Deliver proactive, actionable insights that drive company strategy and daily operations
  • Partner with Data Science and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and consistency in metrics and definitions
  • Educate and empower business users to become more data-literate through training and documentation
  • Establish best practices for dashboard development, insight delivery, and stakeholder engagement

What we are looking for:

  • Proficient in SQL and Excel for querying, transformation, and analysis
  • Experience working with modern BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Sigma, etc)
  • Deep understanding of data structures, metrics, and visualization principles
  • Self-starter with a bias toward action—thrives in ambiguous environments and creates clarity through insight
  • Cross-functional communicator—comfortable translating between technical and business audiences
  • Proven experience building dashboards and surfacing business-critical insights
  • Strong understanding of data quality, governance, and scalability
  • Track-record of AI-first problem solving

Bonus points:

  • Familiarity with or experience in Python and/or R for advanced analytics
  • Hands on experience with SaaS tools (e.g., Salesforce, Vitally, Zendesk, etc)
  • Hands on experience with a modern data warehouse platform such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, or Redshift
  • Experience with DBT, star schema modeling techniques, and Git version control
  • Previous role as the sole or first BI hire in a scaling company
  • Understanding of the education or philanthropy sectors

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
