Own Power BI datasets, semantic models, DAX measures, and dashboards end to end. Trace and troubleshoot data flows through Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, and Power BI while ensuring reporting accuracy. Partner with stakeholders to define requirements, document reporting logic, and expand self-service analytics. Use and validate AI tools for queries, DAX, documentation, and reporting automation. Develop broader Customer Operations systems knowledge over time.
Cin7 is a fast-growing global software company that provides solutions for modern-day product sellers. We help these sellers connect and simplify their operations, keep track of their inventory at scale, and help them sell their products across multiple sales channels around the world.
Cin7 is expanding very quickly with a mission to empower product sellers to thrive by making selling as easy as buying. We are committed to this mission to become the leading Inventory Management Software brand in the world.
Serving over 8,000 customers globally, processing more than 125 million orders per year, and supporting over $35B of Gross Merchandise Value, Cin7 has been rated best overall in inventory management software in 2024 by Forbes Advisor.
Owning Power BI dashboards and datasets end to end means tracing data from source systems through Azure Data Factory into Fabric, building the semantic models and DAX measures behind self-service reporting, and making sure what leadership sees is accurate. This is a build-and-maintain role first and ad hoc analysis second, and it calls for sound judgment on AI: knowing where automation genuinely improves a reporting workflow and where it doesn’t.
What you'll do:
- Design, build, and maintain Power BI datasets, data models, and dashboards — not just visuals, but the relationships and measures underneath them
- Understand and be able to explain how data flows from source systems through Azure Data Factory into Fabric and into Power BI, well enough to diagnose issues independently rather than escalating every anomaly
- Partner with stakeholders across departments to gather requirements and translate them into technical specs
- Own data accuracy and quality for reporting outputs — troubleshoot and resolve issues as they surface, not just flag them for someone else
- Document data models, datasets, and reporting logic for team continuity and QA
- Actively build AI into the daily workflow — using AI tools to draft queries, DAX/Power Query logic, and documentation, and proactively identifying where AI or automation can replace manual reporting steps — while independently validating correctness before anything reaches a stakeholder
- Identify and build AI-powered automation for manual reporting workflows, expanding self-service analytics and offsetting capacity constraints without added headcount
- Grow into Cin7’s broader Customer Operations systems over time — ChurnZero, Salesforce, ZenDesk — with training provided as needed. Not an immediate priority for this role, but baseline ChurnZero configuration is expected of every Customer Ops team member, given how central it is to the function.
What you'll bring:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (information systems, computer science, business analytics, or similar) — or demonstrated equivalent experience with a track record in BI-specific roles
- 2–3 years of hands-on Power BI experience: building datasets and data models, not just consuming or lightly editing existing dashboards — relationships, DAX measures, Power Query
- Working knowledge of SQL, framed as a diagnostic/conceptual skill (reading and validating data, understanding joins/keys/grain) rather than daily production querying
- Demonstrated ability to explain what data means and where it comes from, not just how to reproduce a report
- AI-native fluency, demonstrated rather than claimed: able to build AI tools into daily BI workflows (query drafting, DAX/Power Query, documentation, automation), independently validate their output before it reaches a stakeholder, and bring a practical sense of what these tools are and aren't good at
It's a nice to have if you bring:
- Direct exposure to Microsoft Fabric (lakehouses, dataflows) or Azure Data Factory
- Experience owning a BI dataset/model end-to-end at a prior job, not just building on top of one someone else designed
