About Sand

Sand Technologies is a fast-growing enterprise AI company that solves real-world problems for large blue-chip companies and governments worldwide.

We’re pioneers of meaningful AI: our solutions go far beyond chatbots. We are using data and AI to solve the world’s biggest issues in telecommunications, sustainable water management, energy, healthcare, climate change, smart cities, and other areas that have a real impact on the world. For example, our AI systems help to manage the water supply for the entire city of London. We created the AI algorithms that enabled the 7th largest telecommunications company in the world to plan its network in 300 cities in record time. And we built a digital healthcare system that enables 30m people in a country to get world-class healthcare despite a shortage of doctors.

We’ve grown our revenues by over 500% in the last 12 months while winning prestigious scientific and industry awards for our cutting-edge technology. We’re underpinned by over 300 engineers and scientists working across Africa, Europe, the UK and the US.

About the role

As a key part of our team, you will wear multiple hats—business development lead, logistics consultant, and high-level solution architect. You’ll be responsible for building and nurturing client relationships, identifying opportunities, and co-developing solutions that address our clients’ supply chain and logistics challenges. Roughly 60-70% of your time will focus on business development and relationship-building, while 30-40% will focus on advising and crafting logistics and supply chain solutions.

Specific Responsibilities
  1. Business Development (60-70%)
    • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities in the logistics and supply chain domain.
    • Build and nurture relationships with key decision-makers across various industries.
    • Lead and coordinate sales efforts, including proposal development and presentations.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment of new business opportunities with Sand Tech’s strategic objectives.

  2. Solutions Architecture & Consulting (30-40%)
    • Assess client needs, pain points, and goals to design tailored supply chain and logistics solutions.
    • Partner with clients to identify process improvements, technology integrations, and best practices that drive operational efficiency.
    • Draft high-level solution architectures and statements of work (SOW) that clearly outline scope, approach, and deliverables.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert on logistics and supply chain trends, technologies, and methodologies during sales discussions and project planning.
    • Work closely with internal teams (e.g., technical consultants, product specialists) to ensure proposed solutions are feasible, cost-effective, and aligned with Sand Tech’s capabilities.
  3. Practice Development
    • Contribute to the development of Sand Tech’s logistics and supply chain service offerings, frameworks, methodologies, and toolkits.
    • Provide feedback and insights to senior leadership regarding market trends, emerging client needs, and potential areas of growth.
    • Help define and refine go-to-market strategies for the Logistics practice.
    • Mentor junior team members (as the practice grows), sharing expertise and guiding them in best practices.
Requirements - Essential
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience in logistics, supply chain consulting, or a related field.
  • Proven track record in business development, including lead generation, client relationship management, and successful deal closures.
  • Experience in a client-facing consulting or solutions architecture role with demonstrated ability to scope and design solutions.
  • Deep understanding of logistics operations, supply chain optimization, and relevant industry best practices.
  • Familiarity with supply chain technology platforms (e.g., TMS, WMS, ERP systems) and ability to recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate complex logistics issues and design efficient, innovative solutions.
  • Strategic Selling: Comfortable navigating complex sales cycles and collaborating with multiple stakeholders.
  • Consultative Approach: Exceptional listening skills and the ability to translate client needs into actionable solutions.
  • Communication & Presentation: Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of leading client discussions and delivering compelling presentations.
  • Relationship Management: Ability to build trust with both internal teams and external clients, fostering long-term partnerships.
  • Entrepreneurial Mindset: Eager to take initiative, with a high degree of autonomy and a passion for building something new.

  • Humility: Openness to learning, seeking help when needed, and a focus on serving others.
  • Adventure: A passion for setting ambitious goals, tackling difficult tasks, and finding joy in the journey.
  • Initiative: Proactive problem-solving, a sense of ownership, and a willingness to go above and beyond.
  • Resilience: The ability to bounce back from setbacks, persevere through challenges, and emerge stronger.

Due to the considerable amount of virtual work and interaction with colleagues and customers in different physical locations internationally, it is essential that the successful applicant has the drive and ethic to succeed in working in small teams physically but in larger efforts virtually. Self-drive to communicate constantly using web collaboration and video conferencing is essential.

Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
