About KatRisk

KatRisk is a leading provider of catastrophe risk modeling solutions, dedicated to helping businesses and organizations understand, manage, and mitigate the risks associated with natural disasters. Our innovative technology and expertise enable clients to make informed decisions, optimize their risk management strategies, and safeguard their assets and operations against potential catastrophes.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a motivated Business Development Representative (BDR) to join our growing sales team.  In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of KatRisk’s growth—identifying, engaging, and qualifying potential clients in key industries that depend on reliable risk intelligence. You’ll combine research, outreach, and strategic collaboration to build the foundation for new enterprise relationships.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to break into technical sales, learn about the climate risk and geospatial data space, and contribute directly to KatRisk’s mission of helping clients understand and manage risk more effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct targeted outreach to enterprise-level organizations to identify and qualify leads for KatRisk’s solutions.
  • Leverage a mix of cold outreach (email, phone, LinkedIn) and marketing-driven campaigns to engage decision-makers in insurance, reinsurance, financial services, and related sectors.
  • Research and understand prospect industries, business models, and challenges to tailor messaging and spark meaningful conversations.
  • Develop and manage a pipeline of qualified enterprise opportunities, maintaining accurate records and activities in the CRM.
  • Collaborate closely with Account Executives to strategically align outreach with deal cycles, account plans, and territory goals.
  • Partner with Marketing to refine outbound messaging and campaigns that resonate with technical and business stakeholders.
  • Schedule discovery meetings and support pre-sales activities by gathering relevant insights and documenting account intelligence.
  • Track outreach effectiveness and use data to refine messaging, segmentation, and targeting strategies.
  • Contribute to strategic account development by identifying key stakeholders and mapping organizational structures.
  • Stay current on industry trends in modeling, climate risk, and geospatial data to communicate KatRisk’s value with credibility.
  • Participate in industry events, webinars, and virtual meetings to expand KatRisk’s presence and deepen your understanding of the market.

 Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in business development, sales, or a client-facing role — ideally in SaaS, data analytics, or geospatial technology.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage technical and executive audiences.
  • Strong research skills and curiosity to learn about complex, data-driven products.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to outreach and pipeline development.
  • Comfortable using CRM and sales enablement tools to track activities and progress.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to collaborate and share insights.
  • Interest in climate risk, insurance analytics, or geospatial data is a plus.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants.
