About the Role

The Business Development Representative (BDR) will play a critical role in driving the growth of BrainPOP’s customer base. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Growth & Lifecycle, you will be responsible for supporting the Sales and Success teams in qualifying new, cross sell, and expansion business opportunities and scheduling key renewal meetings. Your efforts on inbound and outbound prospecting will directly contribute to our sales pipeline and overall revenue growth.

This role will either be hybrid based in NYC with the opportunity to work remotely spend time onsite at our NYC HQ (preferred), or remote in the Eastern time zone (see list of hiring states below)

In this Role, You Will

  • Conduct outbound prospecting calls and emails to identify new, cross sell, renewal & expansion business opportunities 
  • Conduct initial discovery conversation to qualify inbound leads based on predefined criteria and document BANT for our Sales/Success teams
  • Act as a trusted advisor, providing potential clients with information about our products and services
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings and brief product demonstrations for the sales/success team
  • Document and track all lead qualification activity in Salesforce, our CRM system
  • Work closely with the sales, marketing, and product leadership teams to align strategies and ensure a cohesive approach to market penetration & campaign effectiveness, while providing the best customer experience
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market developments.
  • Participate in regular training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

You are

  • A adaptable self-starter with a great work ethic who isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves with an ‘all-hands on deck’ mentality
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
  • A confident, persuasive communicator with the ability to build rapport quickly.
  • A willing team player with the time management and organizational skills to also work efficiently independently 
  • Looking to develop and grow at BrainPOP in our Sales or Success orgs
  • Excited to contribute to BrainPOP’s mission of empowering kids to shape the world around them and within them while learning about the K12 EdTech industry and the needs of teachers and school administrators.

On your resume

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; Business, Marketing, Communications, Education, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of proven experience in a sales or business development role, preferably within the EdTech industry
  • Strong understanding of the education sector and familiarity with educational technologies.
  • Proficient with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and other sales tools.

Location:

The BrainPOP team operates in a hybrid work environment: Each role has remote flexibility and an in-person component at our New York headquarters or other meeting locations. Based on the requirements of a specific role, we may prioritize hiring within a commutable distance of our New York headquarters or in another region relevant to that role.
