Remote - South Africa

This is a position within Haldren and not with one of its clients.

Haldren is growing its internal business development function and is looking for a commercially minded BD executive to expand our client footprint across US and global markets. This is a fully remote role based in South Africa, focused on building lasting client relationships, identifying opportunities to grow and improve our service offering, and creating genuine long-term value for the clients and candidates we work with.

The ideal candidate is someone who leads with curiosity and relationship first — someone who understands client needs deeply, communicates with credibility, and knows how to develop trusted partnerships over time. If you are self-directed, people-oriented, and motivated by meaningful commercial impact, this role offers real scope and direct access to leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and engage prospective clients across US and international markets through structured outreach
  • Run discovery conversations to understand client needs, hiring challenges, and business objectives
  • Develop tailored proposals and positioning that align our services to client goals
  • Manage client relationships across the full engagement lifecycle
  • Map target accounts and develop multi-touch, multi-stakeholder engagement strategies
  • Convert inbound leads and referrals into new client relationships
  • Collaborate with internal delivery teams to ensure seamless client experience
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and client intelligence in target sectors
  • Contribute to service improvement initiatives based on client feedback and market insight
  • Contribute to BD strategy, messaging, and go-to-market planning

Requirements
  • Proven experience in business development or client relationship management, ideally within professional services, recruitment solutions, or a related B2B services environment
  • Demonstrated success engaging US-based or international clients
  • Strong understanding of client needs and the ability to develop trusted, long-term partnerships
  • Ability to run structured discovery, qualify opportunities accurately, and develop compelling proposals
  • Confident communicator across email, video, and phone — including with C-level stakeholders
  • Disciplined CRM user with strong attention to pipeline hygiene and follow-through
  • Self-directed and effective in a fully remote environment
  • Strong written English to a professional services standard

  • Benefits
  • Competitive remuneration commensurate with experience
  • Remote work arrangement (South Africa)
  • Medical aid contribution
  • Paid annual and sick leave
  • All South African public holidays observed
  • Opportunities for professional growth and career development
  • Flat management structure with direct access to decision-makers
  • Open communication environment

Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

    Key Facts About Boston Tech

    • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
    • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
    • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
    • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
    • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
