ABOUT THE ROLE
Byte&Kite is a digital marketing agency helping clients across a range of industries grow through effective digital marketing. As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for winning new client accounts and managing the full sales cycle, from prospecting and referrals through discovery, pitching, proposal development, negotiation and close. You will work closely with delivery teams to ensure opportunities are well-qualified, commercially sound and aligned with what the agency can successfully deliver.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Generate new-business pipeline through outbound prospecting, referrals and professional networks

  • Identify and engage potential clients that are a strong fit for Byte&Kite's services

  • Run discovery calls and qualify opportunities based on client needs, budget, timeline and the agency's capabilities

  • Develop proposals and pitch presentations in collaboration with delivery and creative teams

  • Lead client pitches and clearly communicate the value of Byte&Kite's services

  • Build commercial proposals and defend pricing based on the value and scope of the work

  • Negotiate commercial terms and close new client agreements

  • Work with delivery teams to scope opportunities accurately before making commitments to clients

  • Maintain accurate pipeline information and provide regular updates on sales activity and forecasts

  • Ensure a smooth handover to account management with a clear and complete picture of client expectations, scope and commitments

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • 3+ years of new-business sales experience, ideally in a digital marketing agency, professional services or another consultative B2B environment

  • Proven track record of winning new business and closing recurring or retained client engagements

  • Experience managing the full sales cycle from prospecting through contract negotiation and close

  • Strong consultative selling skills and ability to understand a client's business challenges before positioning a solution

  • Confident presenting proposals and discussing commercial terms directly with decision-makers

  • Ability to defend pricing and negotiate effectively without relying on unnecessary discounting

  • Strong understanding of how to scope opportunities and collaborate with delivery teams before making client commitments

  • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills

  • Comfortable working with sales targets, pipeline management and CRM systems

NICE TO HAVE
Digital marketing agency experience; existing B2B network; experience selling SEO, paid media, content or creative services; HubSpot or similar CRM experience; RFP experience; and experience selling to marketing leaders or other senior decision-makers.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)

  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
