Rocket Communications is an enterprise UX Design company focused on designing mission-critical applications and systems. The Business Development Lead (Defense) is an integral contributor to Rocket’s growth strategy, leading the expansion of the company’s footprint across specific Department of War (DoW) branches. This is a unique role that understands the technical nuances of Rocket’s projects as well as the broader defense environment, using that knowledge to identify and capture new business opportunities.
The Business Development Lead will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Programs. They are responsible for building and maintaining positive relationships with large defense primes and government entities to steer the pipeline for continued growth, ensuring Rocket maximizes the value provided to our defense partners while maintaining a healthy and robust business development pipeline.

About You
- You have 5+ years of proven business development, account management, or similar sales experience specifically within the defense sector.
- You maintain deep domain expertise in the Federal and Dept of War domains, including a state-of-the-market understanding of unique technologies, trends, personnel, and branch-specific technological needs.
- You establish and grow strategic relationships with Dept of War program leaders, defense industrial base primes, and other small non-traditional companies.
- You have exceptional networking skills with the ability to establish trust and new connections within the DoW and industry quickly.
- Your communication and presentation skills are strong, with a high comfort level presenting to high-level stakeholders and public speaking.
- You have an understanding and awareness of emerging trends in UX Design and Development in order to forward-think and prepare Rocket to gain more business.
- You are able to attend and network at professional events and meetings to represent Rocket and its services an average of one week per month.
- Due to Rocket's work with local and federal government agencies US Citizenship is required- you must be able to obtain a DoW Security Clearance.
